MPR News confirms that Vance Boelter, the suspected killer of Rep. Melissa Hortman and her husband Mark - is in custody. Details to come.

A little relieved to see more people finally realizing that the alt nps account is bullshit.

80,000 people live in DTLA (Chinatown is a part of it, and in the curfew zone) and tens do thousands commute to it for work or events and the area is dying and in fear as ICE raids and the curfew continue and cops continue to assault people. Not sure how this ends until the city says enough.

A reminder that 1) the military is doing almost nothing beyond standing around LA 2) ICE is terrorizing people with little ID, including ramming cars in Boyle Heights and 3) the LAPD and LASD has been attacking peaceful demonstrations for the last 9 days.

I think a lot of great writers are tackling this. AFAIK most leave out how law enforcement (specifically sheriffs) are causing this drift; not stopping it. bookshop.org/p/books/the-...

Co-sign. The military in LA is not fighting protesters (NG have accompanied ICE raids, but not engaged protesters; briefly helped feds clear a path for ICE vans in DTLA last week). Last 9 days has been local city and county law enforcement attacking people. But the framing has been "military in LA"

Here is the watch commander for the Huntington Beach Police Department, Bo Svensdbo, basically calling me a liar.

High school graduates are the first to walk with the protected right to wear cultural attire after the state of New Mexico passed legislation this spring.

The US Army marched through Washington DC yesterday to commemorate its 250th year. Many officials were in attendance, including Secretary Pete Hegseth. To show his support for the Army, he wore a camo tie. Personally, I think there was a more sophisticated choice 🧵

I’ve said holy shit a lot in the past week but friends: holy shit

Senator Alex Padilla spoke about being detained and handcuffed on the ground by law enforcement while attempting to question Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem during a press conference. Watch/Read ⤵️

Brilliant column by @willbunch.bsky.social:

"It was so shitty out. Pissing cold rain on the march from Copley Square to the Boston Common. The skies were dark and cloudy but everyone was so beautiful. Young and old alike. Everyone was so beautiful"

The Absolute Unit.

For Father’s Day I wanna talk football. Ask me any serious question you have about the NFL and I’ll answer it as best I can.

"In a moment that perhaps best sums up law enforcement’s mixed feelings about the First Amendment during the second Trump administration, one officer in Los Angeles repeatedly shouted threats on live TV at a calm and collected ABC News reporter doing his constitutionally-protected job."

Saturday's No Kings rallies could ultimately be the second-biggest one-day demonstration in American history: olympiajoe.substack.com/p/notes-on-j...

I talked to the QAA boys about the MAHA Institute, what's going on with ACIP, and whether germ theory is real according to our literal HHS secretary. Always delightful to chat with them: open.spotify.com/episode/3ZtB...

The protest organizers put out a press release last night saying that the victim was killed, but no news outlet is reporting that. Comments turned off. Wtf

Can confirm the bigness

Dave be upon you

Yesterday after Spokane LE deployed chemical less lethals, the crowd chanted "SPD is violent" and LE left shortly after. Protests are about visibility as much as solidarity. Strive to correct the narrative relentlessly, and make it as hard as possible to twist.

A solider in uniform is handing out free cans of Phorm Energy, an America250 sponsor co-owned by Dana White. A rep from the company was taking a selfie with the soldier handing the products out.

"But what are you supposed to do?" he cried. "Are you supposed to sit there and let it happen? Just let the ICE van sweep away people who have done nothing wrong? Or if you object, they’re going to call in the military?"

Protesters were up so close again the National Guard, you could almost not see the soldiers from the curb. Anyone throwing something would hit other protesters. There were also cameras everywhere.

@msnbc.com reporter at the 1:15 mark. “The chaos you’re seeing is not the result of peaceful protestors, it’s the result of actions of law enforcement, specifically the Los Angeles sheriff’s department.” #nokings

I was in front of the federal building when this happened and while I admittedly wasn’t at the front of the line closest to the cops, I didn’t hear a dispersal order. We just saw people starting to run towards us followed by cops on horses and cops shooting munitions of some kind.

it is Illegal to not enjoy this. www.rollingstone.com/politics/pol...

NEW: The authoritarian crackdown begins in LA. This is dystopian. As the dictator’s parade is broadcast in the top right corner, MSNBC’s reporter and peaceful protestors are charged by police as tear gas is fired. Watch till the end.

Proud of my little community today! Walla Walla, WA showed up! We marched up Main St and people were cheering us on while having lunch and business owners were line up outside showing support. One business was even handing out cups of water to participants. Spread the love! #nokings #50501Movement

PNSW is bringing the masses. #NoKingsDay

The parade feed promoted by Donald Trump and the White House has a chyron encouraging viewers to text A250 to get on Trump’s mailing list.

Lots of empty space on the mall half an hour before the parade starts.

The Trump parade experience has included ominous skies, jeers, and rejection at the door.

Things are getting tense at the Federal Building in downtown LA. Marines are confronting protesters and pushing them off the steps at the front. Blatantly illegal use of the military against protesters on US soil.

NPR, miasma theory isn't cassette tapes. it's not "outdated" it's refuted and scientifically incorrect.
