Still playing Baldur's Gate 3 and gotta be said, this thing probably has the best character development of any game I've ever played, and not sure it's close either. Phenomenal work.

above all else the current crop of republicans in congress are the most pathetic cowards to ever serve in washington www.washingtonpost.com/politics/202...

Army guidance on implementing President Trump's order on transgender troops, filed in court today, says to NOT take adverse personnel action against people based on gender identity "at this time" and to continue medical treatment. for gender dysphoria. storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.us...

Congratulations to China on their ascendance to research leadership of the world, I guess.

Halt *US* science. We can't stop the world from doing science. We can only stop ourselves from doing science. We're making a conscious choice to make China the world's leading research nation. Congratulations to China on their ascendancy I guess.

this stuff makes perfect sense when you understand that these people have a slaveholder’s ideology and believe that liberty means the freedom to dominate others

A thing to understand here is that Wired + Teen Vogue is Condé Nast — this is the Newhouse family being basically the only good billionaire publishers. Other than them, it’s the indies of the new alt media and stalwarts like ProPublica and then basically crickets.

Executive wants to frame the NIH indirects cut as $4B in savings. But given that NIH returns $2.5 on every $1 investment, this would actually cost US economy a net $6 BILLION (per year!). Not to mention the human costs of wrecking education and research sectors and the communities they serve.

So the kid who didnt know what version control was is rebuilding the national payment system, the kid from kiwifarms has your SSN, the "kid" with the Twitter account from apartheid South Africa has your address and the kid who wanted an llm to convert a pdf has your tax return, did I get them all?

"Why is the GOP shielding an unelected, unvetted, unqualified private citizen & billionaire who is literally dismantling our agencies while we sit here and is literally breaking the law..." -Representative Melanie Stansbury (D-NM) These are the questions. We want to know too!! #nmpol

I'd like to see more writing on how the Musk/Trump junta feels like a frontal attack on the entire concept of virtue, in even the most traditional senses. They are actively demonizing and punishing everyone who doesn't worship Mammon.

i am 100% certain that they are weekend at bernie-ing trump and just handing him papers to sign, the content of which is determined by whoever happens to want something to happen

Three times a day

ELON IS ALLOWED IN THE DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION. NOT YOUR ELECTED REPRESENTATIVES OR STUDENTS & PARENTS. I WILL BE BACK.

once again foiled by the CVS pharmacy computer system telling me it cannot fill my prozac prescription because according to their records i am 18 months pregnant

Every one of these guys thinks they’re Oppenheimer mixed with Andrew Carnegie and they own something called SplortDotCom that got bought by Boozoo

Can't get over how confused this kid must be, how often do you get fired for the exact same reason you got hired

Their response to "he's violating the Constitution" is really "but bro is so sick at coding." US rule of law in shambles. Tech ideology is really that kind of caricature of itself.

"I'm the type of guy who accidentally deletes an entire project and can't recover it. We are collectively the types of guys who have no VCS or backups. None of us are apparently aware of what's actually hard in writing software. We are very smart. Trust us, bro."

"The human brain may contain up to a spoon’s worth of tiny plastic shards—not a spoonful, but the same weight (about seven grams) as a plastic spoon, according to new findings published Monday in the journal Nature Medicine."

Easy consumer credit was a trap. On so many levels. So. Many. Levels.

this is exactly what i’m getting at when i see these people have no understanding of civil society. they do not seem to conceptualize other people as having agency whatsoever.

Your brain is now 0.5% finely shredded plastic baggies, by mass. That's about seven plastic baggies.

NEW: The Jewish leaders who led the early X ad boycott under Musk released a new letter. We call on: 1. Companies to pull ads from X 2. Google/Apple to drop X from stores 3. People with 100k+ followers to leave X 4. Jewish orgs to speak up 5. Major shareholders to pressure Musk

I want us to be clear that this is Federal WORKERS. Not congresspersons, WORKERS.

Happy Black History Month, everybody!

I know that all these institutions know how to push back because when Obama directed them to enforce pre-existing Title IX law, universities said no. They flat out refused until there was a working group and specific guidelines. And even then, they *still* refused.

it seems to me that trump has about as much authority to shut down the department of education by executive order as i do

Anyway as they pull bodies out of the Potomac bear in mind that the guiding ethos of Trumpism is that the TSA, NTSB, and FAA should be radically downsized and run by dudes whose main qualifications are loyalty are a willingness to say “cunt” a lot

Now Trump is blocking New Mexico's access to the Medicaid portal! This won't just hurt the 714,422 New Mexicans on Medicaid. It threatens to shutdown our entire health care system. I'm calling on Trump to undo this chaos IMMEDIATELY.

I've had FOUR monitors go from new to e-waste in 10 months. Six if you count the ones UPS destroyed. MSI? Mediocre monitor, lasted 9 months, warranty process is a joke. Samsung? Terrible. On every front. For "smart" monitors they sure do suck at basic connectivity.
