At an R15 medical school, I feel much the same!

Surprised some of them are aware PR is a US territory at all!

Life scientists and supporters: The Coalition for Life Sciences is here! Many of our professional societies work together through the CLS to advocate for science and now their work is even more important. Follow them!! @c4lifesciences.bsky.social www.coalitionforlifesciences.org

Accidentally fired the guys running the nuclear program. Accidentally fired experienced air traffic controllers. Accidentlly fired the people trying to contain the bird flu.... Accidentally fired...

We have an open position for a research technician position in my lab at Cleveland Clinic. We study oncogenic signaling in leukemia and lymphoma. DM for details.

“The very fact that I am having to publish this anonymously in a country that has the right to free speech written into our Constitution is an indictment of what is happening. Like all federal employees in the US, I took an oath to the Constitution, not to a president…” 🧪 www.bmj.com/content/388/...

I maxed out my credit card, emptied my savings account, and took out a loan to move from Alabama to Bethesda, MD. I don’t even qualify for unemployment since I’ve only worked at NIH for a month. I will be financially and medically devastated. Seeking suggestions for anywhere that’s hiring!!

Whatever your other political beliefs, axing cancer research (and other life-saving efforts at the NIH) shouldn't even be on the table.

First there was the preprint, now comes the full paper! Congrats to student authors Mohamad Hamoui and Shuaa Rizvi and thanks to collaborator Hilal Arnouk MD PhD! Read our description of putative biomarkers to gain more insight into oral squamous cell carcinoma here: www.mdpi.com/2073-4425/16...

NIH doesn’t just support infectious disease research—it drives breakthroughs in cancer, childhood diseases, heart disease, diabetes & more. Thanks to NIH, we have: 💉 Cancer immunotherapy ❤️ Cholesterol-lowering statins 🩸 Insulin for diabetes Investing in NIH = investing in life-saving discoveries.

Amazing that the administration that has conniptions at the thought of being bested by China at anything is doing so much to hamstring the very science that guarantees continued US leadership in so many areas. Not even that is enough?

Save the date! Join us for our 38th Annual Meeting June 13th at Northwestern! We'll be covering AI, big data, and other topics in computational approaches in pharmacology. Registration and more info to follow.

NIH has now closed out R15 parent announcement. For institutions like ours, these are the key grants for larger projects. Grateful that my and my lab's existence here do not hinge on NIH funding, but now forced to wonder what the funding landscape will look like now. Hoping this is just a "pause".

RFK Jr. keeps calling the products of hard work by scientists “miracles”. They are not miracles. They are the result of decades of rigorous, thoughtful work by experts, which he refuses to acknowledge.

Expecting @mikefeigin.bsky.social in here like

Pharmacologists in Chicagoland, IL, IN, WI - please join us this June at Northwestern for the @glcaspet.bsky.social Annual Meeting!

If you're struggling financially due to government fuckery or for any reason really and you need infant formula talk to your pediatrician we can hook you up and don't like to ask questions.

The rapid actions of the Trump Administration to shut down all communication by NIH, thus putting both study sections and councils on hold, is challenging for all of us. We can make our voices known. Below is an example email I sent to both NC Senators (text in alt text) 1/2 🧪

If you have an EJ or env health research grant that has been rescinded, please contact me.

Are u at postdoc or Assistant Prof level – and female? Pls feel encouraged to apply for this tenure track groupleader position in Berlin. No German is required – we are an international institute & main language is English. Deadline 10th Feb. karriere-igb.softgarden.io/job/51609593...

Just the thing I needed when writing an exciting new grant - the entire NIH coming to a screeching halt. And now we wait.
