Legitimately stuff of nightmares. A teaching moment, if the person is willing to learn, but it can't undo what has been done. I guess the writer can have some peace in knowledge that eventually EVERYTHING will likely be stored in chatgpt. Only cavemen (maybe?) will be safe form its reach.

Amazing poem. Deep and emotional imagery.

Sorry I replied before I read this (am bad at blueskying). I know you didn't mean any ill intent. I certainly didn't either. I'm just trying to share how it felt to me personally going through all the comments.

Speaking for myself, it was painful to read the comments, given how much I sacrifice to read slush. Maybe I’m too sensitive, but this approach of public criticism, rather than addressing concerns privately to allow for behind-the-scenes learning, makes it hard not to take it personally.

To clarify, the zine was called out by others, but the screenshot and public post made it clear. This policy has been in place for a while without concerns being raised, leaving no opportunity for growth or discussion before it became a "public" issue.

The zine was directly called out, and criticism often assumes bad intent. Growth is a shared effort. Editors can/do learn and improve, but writers should also consider how public criticism like this affects the people behind the scenes who dedicate their time and passion for this.

I'm curious why the approach was to post rather than addressing concerns privately with staff or EIC. The FFO team works tirelessly, without pay. If the goal was clarity and good faith discussion/practice, wouldn’t a private message have been more considerate to the people behind the scenes?

So grateful for a theme that isn't just looking for a hopeful ending but actually wants to deal with the bleakness I think so many of us are feeling.

I tried duct taping them and hot gluing but they didn't stick. Apparently there's a whole art to fixing glasses that break in this way. Am now contemplating this look:
