watching this whole situation, i'm like - okay, i certainly don't wish the man ill, but i'm going to Italy in October and it's going to be really inconvenient if the Sistine Chapel is booked out for a conclave while i'm in town

here's video of one folding its wings after landing - basically it's their way to increase the wingspan without being limited to 747/A380-capable gates at airports

eh, i could imagine 3% of people doing something like:
pollster: "who did you vote for?"
voter: "oh, I voted for Party X"
pollster: "do you think it would be good for Party X to be in the government?"
voter: [pause to contemplate silly question, followed by sarcastic] "no"

i'm still a little annoyed (only a little!) that i didn't ace the SAT *only* because i took it during that brief window where it had a writing portion and was scored out of 2400 rather than 1600

the upshot of Rankine is it tells you that you're dealing with someone who's weird enough to use Rankine

"Saying, 'I'm sorry' is the same as saying, 'I apologize.' Except at a funeral."

my favorite "confidently wrong re: a zoo" story is a bit different - i was 6 years old, family is in DC on vacation, we get on the Metro to go to the zoo
a few stops later i tell my parents we've gotten on the wrong train
they don't believe me - until a local says "yeah, zoo's the other direction"

i got to see him on the Unreal Unearth tour last year, and i did have a moment of "wait a minute, i'm only 5 foot 8, why am i taller than like 85% of the people in this pit?"
also his speech to the audience before Nina Cried Power was pretty great

ok, so you know how it doesn't have a model for every aircraft, and so sometimes you get "Depiction shows similar model:" text?
gotta say, the WB-57 is not particularly similar to the Saab 340

i went looking for it and found another one over Edwards AFB that appears to be a General Atomics Avenger, N903PC - but it's just credited as "DRONE"
