Ring-necked Duck still Decoy Lake #ukbirding #somersetbirding

A Ringed Seal was recently photographed in Forth, marking a rare appearance of this Arctic pinniped in Britain:

#rarebirdsuk #ukrarebirds I did not have White Tern on my radar!! Never have so many Birders Googled White Tern at the same time. 🤣 Found inland, so not off a ship. Can’t see any held in captivity. If Ascension Frigatebird can make it - 2x! Perhaps WT can. The only question is; Real or hoax?

Record shot of the Black-throated thrush at Lindford this Am L✔️ 🦉

Nice afternoon around the Exe Estuary. Scaup and Goldeneye at Exminster, and Spotted Redshank and Spoonbill at Topshom this evening. #ukbirding

Couldn’t ask for better views of the Long-billed Dowitcher at Turf Locks! #ukbirding

Failed to really capture it in the scope, but never seen the murmurations so large and dense. In fields north of Shapwick village this evening. #ukbirding #somersetbirding

A pretty quiet BGBW, so set off for my usual check of RSPB Loch of Spiggie. Superb to find this drake Bufflehead (almost certainly relocated from Foula). Less than 40m it stayed before departing. No camera. So my awful scoped shot. And a flight shot sent to me by George Petrie. #BirdingScotland

Lesser Scaup Longham Lakes, surprisingly my first drake for over 5 years. Any closer and it would’ve fit in the scope! #ukbirding

Enjoyed spending some time with this showy Kingfisher at Ninesprings this afternoon. #ukbirding #somersetbirding

Missed the Booted Eagle by 5 minutes this morning. We eventually decided to have a drive around and immediately stumbled into the bird at Whitecross - result! #ukbirding

Scops owl, Broadstairs Kent. 25000 ISO but happy with that photo.

The Glaucous Gull at Old Hunstanton was skittish with lots of dog walkers on the beach, but the 6 Shore Lark and a Snow Bunting gave great close views near the seal carcass. #ukbirding

WTE and Cattle Egret both present again at SBR this morning at 8.30am.

White-tailed Eagle at northern end of SBR at 0825.
