i see someone go 'hey this game is good' with no further explanation & put it on my mental backlog immediately where it will stay for 100 years and survive at least 5 failed playthrough attempts because what if i like it on the 6th

i have a few genres im still wary about (any kind of strategy or tactics, real-time or turn based, for example) but even those I don't want to dismiss out of hand. its freeing but its given me endless choice paralysis & i feel like ive become too unfocused & am casting too wide a net

sorry i refuse to go on reddit or somewhere i have to shout my opinions out into the bluesky void and this is like one of the few series/developers where i have strong opinions about things at all

then again, to be entirely fair, so was the story of the *actual* dlc final boss until we learned more, but the thing is that godwyn's death is literally such a central part of elden ring that undoing that in any way, even as a big boss monster, would be incredible strange

bonus points if it's slow as hell and has shoulder button strafing. i mean this unironically

either way please. please i need the exploration focus. i need to be lost in various hallways or mazelike places and figure out puzzles and pick up strange objects and find keys and far too many doors to put them into. i dont want sophisticated combat and semi-linear souls areas...

i dont think this is actually all that common and its a niche genre as is but please i am begging everyone to play kings field 1-3 and not just 4 (or even play 4, at all, if they haven't even done that)

(and it also helps that the dlc has less flat land - you can't always see every place from everywhere, making things feel much further apart than they are, a trick that skyrim also already really loved back in 2011, lmao)

the dlc still has chokepoints and natural barriers, but they're actually *integrated into the landscape* rather than just being ocean and making the whole place feel artificial and weird and constrained

never had the same issue with the dlc, because it feels like a proper region - in fact, the dlc almost "feels" bigger to me than the main game in vibe. which is mostly because it's not the worlds most linearly shaped small island connected by convenient chokepoints

if you think it's already bad with how people treat me with Salem, the raging transmisogyny I've seen from people when they see a trans woman that doesn't pass or chooses not to is quite unmatched.
