Headcanon for Break Adventurers in-universe are at least somewhat aware of things like Ranks and Menace levels as a classification system because of Otherworld adventurers. Those native to Outer World eventually adopted it after realizing that it's actually a pretty convenient and accurate system.

I've always disliked the assumptions D&D makes. 90% of my characters are "young inexperienced adventurer who's doing this out of necessity" which only works as long as I ignore all the flavor text about how classes gain their abilities. Also, even if I get why they exist, I dislike backgrounds.

A bright and colorful setting that has hints of darkness will almost always be better at catching my interest than a setting that is overtly dark and fucked up. The reason why I say "almost" is because of "haha the cute pink teddybears are killing each other we're so edgy"
