x the everything app is exciting in the same way that walking down a back alley in the middle of the sketchy part of town at 2am is exciting

I doubt the Avatar writers would do such a pointless character assassination that also goes against all the themes they've been building.
The impression I got from what they said was something more like "surviving in a world that hates you for who you are due to rampant beliefs in falsehoods".

Wasn't it pretty clearly implied that Korra being the villain is in-universe misinformation?
At least, anything else would make extremely little sense

Ha, I was wondering what was up with that Infinite Possibility Foundation badge in the illustration for Otherworld histories. The name sounded kinda ominous and gave me big SCP vibes.
These are both very cool!

I honestly love the concept of Otherworld. One of the most fun things about isekai settings is thinking about how the isekai'd people may have influenced the world.
Maybe certain fantasy tropes are only present in this world because they were introduced by people who were expecting those tropes.

The Guild would absolutely have a stupid over-the-top system. If you're not a Flaming Mythril rank party, don't even think about taking on a Leviathan EX class threat.
Of course nobody knows what Mythril or Leviathans are, but the Guild was founded by an Otherworlder, so nobody really questions it.

That's effectively what that system amounts to, but with a bit more direction that probably makes it easier to design for.
You can start with 3 classes, and at max level you can theoretically have 7 classes with 4 maxed out. And with optional rules you can get even fancier.

git reflog refs/stash
you might still have the stash that you lost somewhere in your history

be careful what you wish for
zero fanart, zero official content, zero merch, zero people to nerd out about your favorite character with...
is not a fun position to be in

So you improve "upwards" until a reasonable level cap, and then you start to improve "sideways".
That's a cool idea! I might yoink this π

Yeah, D&D's skill progression is very linear, especially if you're not a caster.
Multiclassing is how you can get around that, but then you're stuck with the low lvl abilities of all your classes. Plus the restrictions... What if I *do* want my cleric to also be a subpar Artificer with her 11 INT?

You would love Fabula Ultima for this actually lol
Every time you level up, you put a level into one of your classes and take a skill (any skill) from that class. A class is maxed out at lv10, letting you take a Heroic Skill for that class, and then you can start leveling another class.

It forces you to at least consider what your backstory is if you weren't going to do that. Which is arguably good!
But if you already have a backstory, it kinda forces it into a game-mechanic-shaped box that I'm not a fan of.
(Plus why am I a master of 16 languages when i'm just starting out)

Oh, for sure, and the way backgrounds work really highlights that.
Your background is primarily a stat stick with maybe some equipment, and you can usually forget about it after you've determined what it makes you good at.

I haven't read that many systems, but both Fabula and Break have.
D&D is like "You can do Healing Magic because of your Deity".
The other games I've read (Fabula, Break) tend to go more "You can do Healing Magic. Try to think about why."
There's no imposed identity, and it's way more interesting.

Exactly!
"You don't have to play with the exact rules as written" well then I'd rather play a game where I *can* play with the exact rules as written
