If you think you’re having a weird night, imagine being an employee at the Philadelphia mint

A country of laws is only as good as the people willing to obey and enforce those laws.

ngl, going through people's follower/following lists and re-following all my UX/design/tech tweeps on Bluesky is giving me all the good feels.

@willsansbury.bsky.social oh Will! Thank God you’re here!

Good. Assholes. www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/...

The @detroitlions.bsky.social made the other 14-win team look like a #5 seed. #OnePride

It's January 6th and the last time a major (men's) sports team from Michigan lost was December 28th. In that stretch: Detroit Lions - 2-0 Detroit Pistons- 3-0 Detroit Red Wings - 4-0 Michigan State Basketball - 2-0 Michigan Basketball - 2-0 Michigan Football - Beat Bama in the ReliaQuest Bowl

Congratulations! We are all within hours of surviving 2024 & ready to face the challenges of the decade that will be 2025.

WTF New Jersey?!

Today, I received an email from Foursquare. That is all.

This kills me.

On one hand the ostensible job of the Department of Government Efficiency will be to drastically cut federal jobs. But on the other hand, what they're doing is really a make-work program for a future Democratic oversight investigation.

I love coding with AI. This said, it scares the shit out of me. <Claude makes some changes to my code that I'm unsure of> Me: “Does this do X?” (X is something I definitely don't want my code to do.) Claude: “You’re right! We should do X! I’ve updated the code to ensure that X happens.”

I’ve gotta say, these all feel related to me.

I don't give the slightest damn about "building my following" here. This said, it's pretty obvious that most people have been conditioned to *not* follow back (unless they feel somehow obligated to). I say this as someone who feels that way too. Trying to figure out how to overcome this barrier.

I guess what I'm most curious about is whether Bluesky can be a place where people meet and appreciate strangers (again). I miss the days when replying/reacting to something started a conversation instead of a pile-on.

OK. Threads didn’t click. Where are my people at? #ByeTwitter

This is psychotic.

@angelpixels.bsky.social I’m nearly off Twitter… it’s just… hard. On the other hand, seeing a post from at-angel and having it not be you — even knowing why — really drove things home for me.

I’m not sure people understand how small Israel is, nor how few Jews there are in the world. I know very few Israelis who are more than a degree or two removed from someone directly affected by Hamas’s terror. I’m not sure I know any.

What’s fascinating to me about these ignorant—and thoroughly detached—“progressives” (and/or progressive groups) is that they are incorrectly conflating Hamas with the Palestinian people, generally, and thus blurring the line between evil murderers and innocent bystanders.

Mel Tucker is nuts. *Even* if *his* version of events is true, his admitted conduct is evidence enough of an astounding lack of judgment.

I've been shopping online for at least 25 years, but this one was new to me: team.dolfinswimwear.com/shop/equipme...

Fani Willis is an incomparable bad-ass. This letter to Jim Jordan is glorious: www.documentcloud.org/documents/23...

So, I’m at the checkout counter at Jo-Ann Fabrics, and a woman walks in and says, “Where’s your do-it-yourself aisle?” …

How do I create a feed or list (of people to follow/browse for a purpose)?

Endorse

There is not enough caffeine in the world for me to process a morning like this.

There is absolutely nothing more on-brand for Elon Musk's T̶w̶i̶t̶t̶e̶r̶ than http://x.com right now.

nazi bar owner: “what if I change the curtains”

Is there a verb for action on this platform? (Something akin to, "tweet"?)

It's odd to notice that I've been unintentionally reconstructing my original Twitter community here. That is to say, I'm following IRL friends as well as people in the UX+Dev community, while limiting the number of media talking heads I keep in my stream (for now). It's also oddly delightful.

Not gonna lie, I'm having a *really* difficult time feeling "right" starting a conversation here... Feels a bit like I'm posting to a reasonably well-populated ether.
