dumb dumb dumb

Feel like our colleagues and fellow unionists are being DOGEd.

WWU is firing staff. It is so gut-wrenching. They are doing it with no humanity and even less forethought about how it will impact academic programming. I'm sick to my stomach.

I am pretty skeptical of this kind of funding. While individual research may be valuable, harnessing social science to the national security imperatives of the US state warps the kinds of questions that get asked and the answers at which scholars arrive.

this is how a normal person thinks. by contrast, republicans would find a direct link to doug emhoff and open a comgressional investigation. FOX would run dozens of segments linking him to the plane crashes

I hope Democrats get that Americans care a hell of a lot more about Trump firing veterans and cutting needed programs than they do about Trump being Putin's puppet or US AID.

I think people don't realize the degree to which this ethos permeates legal academia. Being clever, original, or provacative argument is often more important than trying to say something that is true.

I have worthy opinions on books. Like, 'Beautyland' was amazing.

It went like this: Martin Luther King, Jr , thought unions were for achieving equality. I think unions are still important to achieving equality. You should join a union and fight for equality.

I wrote an opinion piece once. It contained most of my worthy thoughts on the topic I care most about.

Micro-blogging is great because my opinions get exactly the amount of consideration they merit: Usually, none! Occasionally 1-3 seconds.

You must have an insane level of arrogance and self delusion to believe you have complex opinions that are worth more than five minutes of anyone else twice a week. That's why I appreciate that Bouie went to writing once a week.

The rest of the New York Times columnists I could take or leave. I generally can't make it through a whole piece because my brain starts to shut down. Sometimes they talk about things I don't know about and I enjoy it.

I can accept hate reading Ross Douthat.

Here is an exclusive list of the Times columnists usually worth reading: Jamelle Bouie Lydia Polgreen

You wouldn't post WSJ op-eds, so why do you post that trash when it appears in the Times?

I have asked for years for the NYTimes to unbundle news and opinion. I don't want to pay for that trash.

Top selling MLS shirts 2025 1. Some guy on Cincinnati's reserve team 2. Lionel Messi

This struck me as the perfect distillation of JD Vance. He is a shockingly incurious and unserious guy who has faked his way into the center of power and now thinks he’s the smartest guy in the room.

Lol

1/9 Dan Hannan says that free trade is an IQ test. He may well be right, but not in the way he thinks (and what is more, he would score poorly). For example, he doesn't understand the very model he cites as fundamental. @DanielJHannan www.washingtonexaminer.com/magazine-col...

Tratar de forzar a un pueblo a la humillación ritual y reiterada es la mejor manera de generar en él una determinación casi fanática de resistencia. Hay varios ejemplos históricos recientes y en algunos de ellos Estados Unidos ha sido protagonista. No aprenden.

Obama is the absolute prince of preening vanity.

Obama and Biden may think they are honoring the office of the presidency by keeping quiet at a moment like this — if so that’s just preening vanity — they owe it to the office and to the Republic that until last month it served to speak up loudly and clearly and without relent.

Sono d'accordo con questo sentimento. I sondaggi dimonstrano che solo la generazione dal "baby boom" se ne importa la politica estera.

lol. these boycotts work great.

This is true, but I don't think why people claim to like small business is because they think they are munificent employers.

Great work by Denver Labor in fighting rampant #WageTheft & other labor violations at local strip clubs. Denver Labor cited clubs for $14M in unpaid wages/penalties. Work is work & these workers deserve fair wages & other essential rights. Another example of how cities are standing up for workers.

This shit is nuts.

I know you know, but JD Vance is disgusting.

Very little risk premium priced in given pretty extraordinary economic policy uncertainty.

WASHINGTON (AP) - U.S. consumers cut back drastically on spending last month, the most since February 2021, even as inflation declined, though stiff tariffs threatened by the White House could disrupt that progress.

the last 20 years has seen an explosion of non-violent actions but very few organizing successes. one of the reasons why is pursuing tactics without strategy

Liverpool and Arsenal have a broadly similar breakdown of goal contributions in all competitions. Saka 22 Gakpo 21 Havertz 19 Diaz 16 Szoboszlai & Trossard 12 Jota & Martinelli 11 Alexander-Arnold, Nunez and Rice 10 Oh, but Liverpool have Mohamed Salah on FIFTY-TWO as well.

Bears repeating that social security is incredibly INCREDIBLY efficient to run. Its overhead costs are basically zero when you consider the size of the undertaking and the genuine benefits delivered. If anyone was interested in improving govt efficiency, the SSA would be their model not their target

The Clown Paradox: the more negative the online review of a clown is, the funnier the clown sounds

These things drive me nuts. They do not work at all, but make a few people feel like they are doing something when they’re not. They’re worse than useless.
