Looking out the cockpit windows like this looking for things I recognize.

"If you look to your right you'll see Cawker City KS. Which is home to one of the biggest balls of twine in the world" maybe I just have too many fun facts about small Midwest towns...

Important to note this is not my team and I can't really provide any insight on the particular role but just wanted to pass it along.

Another guy there had a sick GP60M A/B combo IN ATSF and I think I need one now.....

I actually had one of the Bachmann units at one point that i converted over to DCC and LEDs and such but it was a pain in the ass. It uses a split frame design so you have to disassemble it completely to solder pickups on to the wheels, motor, etc. Looking on eBay Atlas makes a decent looking one...

Lmao what a gif. I'm still looking for a decent dash 8 in ATSF livery. Most I'm finding are Bachmann and even their spectrum line I'm not a huge fan of. Really wanting a Kato or Athearn unit.

Hard agree. I had a slack convo after the DCA incident where they refused to acknowledge that other factors were at play and to them it was solely related to Trumps decisions. I'm not an NTSB investigator but i've seen every episode of Mayday! and tend to know more than the average bear

Also those ditch lights are a BITCH. I spent so long trying to get those mounted.

Also have 8223. It was NIB so install on detailing was a bit easier. It's got a Digitrax Series 7 decoder which does fine but it if bites the dust like some of my other digitrax units I'll do another Soundtraxx

Ayyyy 8251 gang. I've got the same exact one. It was clearly someone else's project since there a few parts missing and a few holes already filled glue. But I still made it work, dropped a ECO-PNP unit in it and it runs and sounds great.

What a terrible day to have eyes.

Good call on the foam. The little plastic dividers hold the Athearns in just fine but the Kato is too long. I'll probably do a few more enhancements before I actually move around with them. Not a bad option for $10

Thanks. I love it so far. I'm almost done detailing but it's already been on the tracks and ran and it's a super solid runner and sounds amazing. Very impressed for my first Kato

Got the decoder installed last night. My speakers still aren't in yet and don't have a tracking number (which is annoying. Thanks eBay seller) but I just pulled a Digitrax unit out and it works fine. Sounds great and the board makes the wiring so much cleaner than trying to wire up a standard chip

I've got a Soundtraxx Econami PNP decoder coming next week that will go in this with an iPhone 8 speaker to make it sound great. Will be my first time messing with Soundtraxx as well so i'm excited about that.

Other thing i'm not crazy about is how the lights work. This has fiber optic-esque light "tubes" for the ditch lights and headlights/taillights. Means lighting those up with LED will be a bit more challenging if I want to separate the ditch from the headlight for example. But i'll figure it out.

Since this is my first Kato, I have some things to learn. Although detailing looks pretty easy. All the parts are molded plastic in the right colors. When I did my Athearn SD75M I had to paint match and paint a bunch of tiny metal parts. I still would prefer metal over plastic, but hey, i'll take it
