Game 20 - Bowser’s Fury
I missed this back when 3D World was rereleased, but with Nintendo EPD’s next game on the horizon AND this game receiving a Switch 2 upgrade, it was finally time. And I really enjoyed it! It’s a fun sandbox to play in, and I really loved the kaiju Bowser stuff!

Game 19 - The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Seasons
As one of my earliest Zelda experiences, OoS holds a special place in my heart. It retains a lot of what made Link’s Awakening great, while carving its own path with interesting items and occasional nods to the NES original!

Game 18 - Mario Kart World
I wasn’t sure when to consider this “beaten”, but I’ve enjoyed playing through all of the cups and rallies, with occasional pit shops into the open world and online. Not my favorite Mario Kart, but definitely a competent launch title for Switch 2!

Game 17 - Soul Calibur II
I always wanted this game as a kid. Link as a playable character? How cool was that?! I’ve almost picked it up several times over the years, but playing it via Nintendo Classics was in awesome way to break in my new NSO GameCube controller!

Game 16 - The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask
Having just finished Ocarina of Time, it’s easy to compare and contrast what these games do better than one another. This game is at its best when it’s showing off its living world and deeper side quests. Still one of my all-time favorites.

Game 15 - The Last of Us Part I
Kali and I have been watching the show together, and so it was only fitting that we play the game together too. Still great after all these years, but I did notice that the PS5 is a lot more buggy than I remember.

October is about where I expected this to land.
So Metroid in September and Hyrule Warriors in November then?

Game 14 - Humanity
Another one I had to catch before it leaves Game Pass in a few days. I’ve been wanting to play this since I first heard about it, and it was a nice break from Doom with some pretty clever puzzles!

Game 13 - Doom: The Dark Ages
This is a game that doesn’t let up off the gas. It manages to feel like a natural evolution of Doom gameplay while feeling distinct from its predecessors. The DLC can’t come soon enough. I just want more.

Game 12 - The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time
There was a time where this was my least favorite 3D Zelda. It seemed old compared to later entries. As I get older though, I appreciate this one more and more. Its design has endured, and it is still legitimately one of the greatest games ever made.

Game 11 - Donkey Kong Country Returns HD
Returns is back with a truly definitive edition that takes everything great about the Wii and 3DS iterations and modernizes it a bit. There are better DK games to play on Switch, but this is still very much worth playing!

Game 10 - Split Fiction
Hazelight does it again! This game manages to take a winning formula and amp up the creativity while constantly new game mechanics at you. Kali and I absolutely loved this game!

Game 9 - Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 2
Like its predecessor, the remake of THPS2 is still so much fun 25 years later. This game’s challenges can be more frustrating, but the parks are so well made that I don’t even care!

Game 8 - Civilization VII
I’ve dabbled in this series, but this is the first time I’ve actually sat down and played a campaign all of the way through. It was a fun, albeit buggy, experience. I think it’d be nice to return after some more updates!

Game 7 - Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater (Remake)
I have THPS on the brain, and I wasn’t about to wait until July to play it again. The 2020 remake plays like a dream, and I loved going through and ticking off every challenge each level had to offer!

That was my approach too. One level at a time, but I really made sure to explore that level as much as I could. It feels like something I’ll want to come back to in a few months and try completely differently
