The Coalition’s nuclear plan is a costly delay tactic to keep coal and gas for longer. New modelling shows it would blow out emissions by 2 billion tonnes and derail our climate targets. Renewables are cheaper, faster, and the only viable path to net zero. #ClimateAction

They are deliberately crossing the red lines, in order to make the unacceptable commonplace and, eventually, acceptable again.

President Zelenskyy has been one of the greatest leaders of our time, guiding Ukraine through the darkest period of its recent history, rising up to Russia’s unwarranted aggression, being an inspiration to the Ukrainian people and ensuring that Ukraine’s voice is heard on the world stage.

Two superpowers opening discussions on the future of a country which one of them is still invading, without that country

Dutton’s plan to break up insurers is a populist stunt that ignores the real issue—climate risk. Insurance costs are soaring, driven by worsening climate disasters. Without investment in mitigation and adaptation they’ll keep rising. Visit zalisteggall.com.au/media_releases to read my statement.

ICYMI: Some good points made by ABC's Laura Tingle, in convo with David Marr on #LateNightLive, about the coming election, and who the community independents might support if there's a minority govt. #auspol #AusVotes2025 www.abc.net.au/listen/progr...

🚨Exciting news! Can we get them in Australia too? #smartsolutions

Sky News was running this bloke nonstop on Friday

Big slush donations and corrupting influence to be entrenched with Don Farrell’s disingenuous election funding “reforms”. Here Centre for Public Integrity’s Anthony Whealy tables this indictment of Australia’s democracy = no fair go.

Truth in political advertising legislation remains in limbo - that’s why I’m launching the Ethical Political Advertising Code (EPAC) - a voluntary pledge for politicians to commit to factual and accurate political advertising. Find out more at zalisteggall.com.au/EPAC

Instead of reducing big money in politics, the govt has rammed through a 400-page bill that does the opposite. This is a stitch-up by the major parties to entrench their duopoly while shutting out independents and community voices. #auspol

Labor and the Coalition have struck a deal to protect their power, boost their own funding, and shut out competition. They’re taking an additional $4.8M a year from taxpayers while weakening transparency laws—proving they’ll do whatever it takes to maintain control and block community independents

The fix is in We've known from the start this would be a major party stitch up to lock out new community-backed independents. Giving more taxpayer $$ to pollies with no truth in political advertising protections is particularly shameful👎 www.abc.net.au/news/2025-02...

It's important to remember that calling out violations of international law or war crimes isn’t antisemitic—it’s about holding everyone accountable! Every nation must be responsible for its actions, no matter who they are. It’s time to promote justice and peace for all! #HumanRights #JusticeForAll

Australia has a unique opportunity to lead in clean energy and attract global investment. A strong 2035 emissions target will drive innovation, lower power prices, and secure our future. The govt must commit to #75by35

I fully support the calls for tougher hate speech laws but draw the line at rushing through extreme measures like mandatory sentencing as it sets a dangerous precedent.

We urgently need electoral reform, but the govt’s electoral reform bill protects major party interests and undermines democracy. It must be sent to inquiry to ensure fairer donation laws and election integrity. #aupol #Integrity #TruthInPoliticalAdvertising #VoterProtections

The media’s headlines on donations to independents are misleading—the real story is in the numbers. The graph makes it clear: the major parties still receive the vast majority of political donations. Yet the government is pushing electoral reforms that serve as a payday for political parties

I welcome the opportunity to condemn rising antisemitism and call for stronger action against hatred toward Jewish communities. I intended to speak on today’s motion, but debate time ran out—so here is my statement:

The devastating floods in North Queensland highlight the urgent need for national resilience and climate adaptation. In QT, I urged the PM to commit to a roundtable with key sectors to tackle this crisis. I welcome ongoing collaboration. Watch the full video: zalisteggall.com.au/news #auspol

Social media makes politics more accessible but also spreads misinformation—especially during elections. Democracy needs truth. That’s why I introduced my Stop the Lies bill to ban false political ads. Yet in 2025, we still have no safeguards. Next week, I’ll call on the government to act.

Electrification trials are set to be rolled out nationwide for households to transition to clean energy, with subsidies for solar batteries and electric appliances. This is a win for the climate and for cost-of-living relief, proving once again that smart solutions can achieve both! #SmartSolutions

Broken. My @smh @theage cartoon.

NSW is facing severe heatwaves, raising concerns about power outages. Analysis shows that Australia’s ageing coal plants are increasingly unreliable, driving power shortages and price spikes, especially in summer. With coal set to retire by 2035, we must accelerate the shift to renewables & storage.

Sobering day for climate action but all the more reason to stay focused on Australia’s opportunities to lead on renewable energy. Climate risks are escalating, impacting our safety and costing us. This is not a race we can quit. #auspol #climateaction

As the election approaches, it’s still legal to lie in political advertising. Voters deserve the truth, —especially in an era where the major social media platforms are abandoning fact-checking. My ‘Voter Protections’ Bill would hold political advertising to the same standards as consumer ads.

I am appalled by the ongoing antisemitic attacks in Sydney, and in other parts of Australia. These horrific acts of hatred are disgraceful and must be condemned. We cannot allow extremism and hate to spread—this must stop.

Welcome news that govt will commit $2b for production credits to help aluminium smelters, huge electricity consumers, move to renewable power. Supporting green aluminium is good news for the climate & will help create jobs & future proof the industry. #auspol

You can’t claim to care about the cost of living while promoting nuclear power. Peter Dutton’s plan would double power bills for solar households and cost families more. Renewables are cheaper, reliable, and already power 40% of our energy. Let’s accelerate the transition! #SmartSolutions

On CBC last night, I spelt out the moral case to keep on trying, however hard it might be. Defending the living planet is not an option we can abandon. Ultimately, it is all that counts. www.youtube.com/watch?v=qX2V...

In 2024, Germany achieved its cleanest electricity mix ever, with renewables powering 62.7% of net electricity generation. With no nuclear power for the first time since 1962, Germany shows we can build a future powered by sustainable energy without relying on outdated technologies. #SmartSolutions

Australians are losing millions to scams, with devastating impacts. While the government’s plan is a start, it falls short. I’m pushing for stronger protections, including mandatory compensation when banks or telcos fail their duties. My amendment ensures fairness, prevention, and community safety.

What a surprise to find RW nutjack group Advance opening spreading whale death lies & propaganda re renewables. Natural disasters are worsening with climate change, affecting lives, insurance costs, and financial stability. Investing in resilience and preparedness is vital to protect communities, businesses, and Australia's future. #ClimateRisk #SmartSolutions

We can’t insure our way out of the climate crisis, but we can make communities more resilient. I'm calling on the government to protect communities and businesses by investing in resilience and preparedness measures. Visit by website to read my full statement: zalisteggall.com.au/news

The devastating wildfires in Los Angeles are a stark reminder that we cannot insure our way out of the climate crisis. Governments must protect communities and prioritise preparedness, adaptation & ultimately mitigation. Anything else is reckless negligence. #ClimateRisk #SmartSolutions

🚨We are at a crossroads on climate with a very serious risk outlook for our communities as the LA fires show yet both major parties are playing old school politics focused on politics for power instead of politics for people & policies. Neither have a clear policy to protect our communities. #auspol
