You need to give a source on your claim that "VRChat the company was paying to maintain it", unless you have some juicy insider info or saying Cyan has been lying, it feels like you have not done proper research.
The whole situation is because is lack of support from VRChat, monetary and otherwise.

I'm a bit jealous and glad to hear that chat mods' input are being taken under actual consideration these days.
We had to nag for weeks, if not months, for VRChat to add their new custom emoji to the server during one of the super old UI overhauls during my time.

I don't expect things to change, but I want to be wrong.

They never talked about it with me beforehand, just a kick and DM saying "you are out, good bye". I'm still sour about it and feel used by VRChat management, and I can only try to imagine how much worse Cyan and other creators must feel.
I want to help VRChat out, but please, treat me with respect.

I spent a year+ glued to that join list because I thought it was the dumbest policy ever, but I wanted people to actually getting in so I did what I could. They thought that wasn't enough and kicked me out for "being inactive", even though I was one of the handful of mods actually doing shit. /3

After modding for a full year I asked to hide my mod role because I was getting and answering DMs almost daily.
This was also around the time they wanted mods to manually approve every single user who joined the discord server, only me and 2-3 mods others were actually doing that daily. /2

The whole VRChat communication style of "after discussing it internally before reaching out, we have reached a decision; take it or leave it" feels very familiar from when I used to be a chat mod on their discord years ago. /1

I haven't had exactly that kind of harsh comments towards me, but I definitely feel the arrogance and smugness from people.
Like, I know very damn well U# is better to use if you know how, but the scope I'm aiming for is perfectly doable with Cyan Triggers. Get over yourselves.

Yes, I have used graph, but I don't think it's comparable to using Cyan Triggers at all.
You still need to have fundamental programming knowledge, knowing technical terms and thinking in code when stringing nodes together in graph, whereas in Cyan Triggers you don't need that previous knowledge.

I'm not happy about this either and as a heavy user of the tool, I want this resolved ASAP. Cyan has said privately it's more than just about the money, I'm not gonna speak on his behalf though and if he wants to explain the whole deal it should be from his mouth directly.

I wish so too, but VRChats own actions makes me think they don't value this tool as much as they'd like you to think.
They could've at anytime reached out to Cyan about putting it into the SDK, but I don't think Cyan is lying when he said they didn't.

Calling it a hostage situation is incredibly disrespectful. Creators should not be strong-armed into giving away the rights of their work without compensation, I'm sure VRChat would love to take years of his work for free and Cyan is left with nothing.

Tagging @vrchat.com so my desperate shout into the abyss can maybe be picked up by a sympathetic ear.

It fucking sucks to indirectly be laughed at, told "git gud" and being dismissed. Bringing ideas to life should ideally be made easier, not put on a tall shelf where only "the worthy" may approach and create with.

I'm mostly rambling and I just want to be able to make cool worlds that do more than just serve as a backdrop, and I'm angry about the attitude skilled coders usually have towards non-coders when they wish they could bring their vision to life without needing to spend weeks learning programming /4

I genuinely think if the average designer could make a game/adventure world without needing to become a full-blown coder, fully competent in C# and network engineering, the platform would be much more fun and varied place.
The community shouldn't have to be 100% responsible for making those tools /3

I do think it's on VRChat to make their world scripting tools more accessible for non-coders, I want to see more fun adventure world with silly gimmicks instead of dime-a-dozen relax & chill cozy worlds with youtube search and sleep toggles /2
