I totally hear what you are saying. You are not wrong at all. I guess what I mean is that instead of directing the cops to break up protests, they could have been directed to stop DHS. You know what I mean?

I know, having been arrested by both LAPD and Glendale PD(fuck them too). I remember one time being stopped by LAPD one time and the cop was trying to chat me up(because I am a punk), talking about being in FFF as a teen. Yeah.

It is time for a leftist coalition party.

And who directs the cops? Who holds them accountable? Our elected officials. I use the term loosely considering the stranglehold the democratic party has on our politics. Fuck them. Vote them all out.

Fuck the cops. Fuck Newsom. Fuck Bass. They will go down in history as nazi collaborators.

I am so tired of these people being able to control the narrative.

I wonder though. If all the different flavors of left were to form a coalition party, if that would be enough people to beat the republicans and the entrenched democrats?

My apologies. I am not here to be harsh. I know my tone can be a tad(understatement) off putting. I grew up in a feral, punk rock household. Hard to break certain habits.
I no longer live in LA, but as someone who has been to a lot of protests, calls for non-violence is not helpful.

Is there a way for you to repost the video here so we don’t send traffic to instagram?

They will manufacture the ammunition. They’ve got CNN reporters saying protesters are shooting cops with rubber bullets. You, by digging in your heels, are perpetuating the violent protester narrative by giving it energy.
As someone who says they care: how many human wages are lost to Waymo.

Still, you are focusing on the protesters. It is not about them. It does not matter what the protesters do. Each second denouncing actions they take is reenforcing a narrative. Talk instead of the violence perpetrated by the state, about innocent people being abducted.

Rightwing media can manufacture as much ammo as it wants. It cannot manufacture a target. By giving credence to their complaint, you are aiding them. Focus instead on what these protests are about: protecting our communities.

Really does make me think Trump had Epstein killed. That Musks backtracking has to do with a real threat to his life.

Proud of all the hard work you guys are putting in down there. Makes me miss my home city.

To quote Diane Court in Say Anything: “I have seen the future, and all I can say is go back”

Sometimes it is not about optics at all. Sometimes the goal is to stop people from being unlawfully abducted by tying up police resources.

And maybe you are not getting it. If he has the potential to undermine Trump in any way, I will fucking take it. Neoliberals like Newsom suck and I would prefer an alternative. But right now, he’s the governor.
And maybe I am just naive. I keep hoping that there is still humanity left.

Tangentially related. It is frustrating that the feds have the budget to put up ICE, but not our unhoused. The brutality of their priorities.

It was mayor Bass who declared the curfew.
comment in response to

My understanding is that the second a tactic is known, it is no longer effective. That goes for both police and protester.
comment in response to

Yes. The mayor has the authority to direct the chief of police.

If you cannot reflect and see what I am pointing at, this conversation is pointless.

Sure, you can do whatever you want. If you want to advance talking points that help Trump, that is your prerogative. Just know that is what you are doing.
comment in response to

Then why bring it up?
You seem to be under the impression that the Trump admin is rational. That it can be reasoned with. Trump will lie. Even if not a single thing burned, no traffic blocked. Everyone just dancing. They will still be labeled “lawless rioters” because they are against him.
comment in response to

Maybe, I am just hoping a staffer brings this to his attention.

@governor.ca.gov you are going to prosecute those who enact violence on our streets to the fullest extent of the law, right? Right?!

It is this focus on “lawless rioters” that is the problem. Instead, focus should be put on the why. People seem to care more about burned waymos than the government abducting people. Stop that shit. We have a moral obligation to protect our neighbors. That should take center stage.

As a Californian, I feel failed by my educational experience in a lot of ways. But one is that I was not taught to be bilingual.

I was going to say! Since they were throwing around aphorisms: “silence is violence”

Yes. Take control of the National Guard and direct them to kick ICE out of California. Shut them down.

Yes! Because accountability is a two way street.

Tell the LAPD to be peaceful too. Stand up to ICE. Tell them no more abductions.

Seriously. A curfew? So people cannot stand up for their communities?
