“You must like it when people in authority they never earned lie to you.” (Not directed at you. Could not help myself considering your profile pic)

Sure. But then it would not be “violent protesters and anarchists”. Public safety would be upheld. And the motto of “to protect and serve” would mean something.

Sure, he has no authority over the feds. But he does over the police. And he could push Trump by telling those cops to block or interfere with ICE.

Then stop ICE. You have the power.

You’ll be waiting a long time.

Kick ICE out of California.

Exactly.

Exactly! Leave the neoliberals to wallow in the democratic party, take everyone else, and create space for everyone else that is not fascist.

Enough to beat both parties.

Totes! Hey, if there was a third party, specifically composed of leftists, labor, and disenfranchised democrats, would you back such an idea? My intuition tells me there are a lot of potential voters out there, not voting. But that a coalition party could bring people out of the woodwork.
comment in response to post
Omg you nailed it.

Like what?
comment in response to post
I have said this elsewhere. But I think a new coalition party for leftist and progressives needs to be formed. This whole “vote democrat because the republicans suck” argument just does not fly any more. Fuck! Thats the name! Coalition.

How nice for you, to have not seen this coming. A lot of us did. Even when we were under democratic leadership, alarm bells were going off. Your party chose to put corporate interests first. Chose to give military grade gear to the police. Chose not to dismantle the DHS.

Mostly agree. I just don’t think Newsom sees his lack of action as a mistake. But yes, we must fight this dumpster fire in front of us.
comment in response to post
Right now, in this very moment, sure. But after his term is up, I will never back him in office ever again. The fact he chose to use state resources to collaborate with DHS is unforgivable. There would not have been “riots” if he blocked ICE in the first place.

And who! The anti-fascists of Italy were made of such “extremists” as anarchists, communists, and socialists. But it is obviously more politically prudent to throw them under the bus. Just like he did trans folk.

Your lack of paywalls is why we subscribe. Keep being cool.

They will adjust their tactics according to the situation. Those who were not already arrested. But the focus, the pressure must be put on our elected leaders to act. Actually act. Not just posture for the camera.
comment in response to post
I am not assuming you are not furious. What I am saying is that you are looking in the wrong direction. The Trump admin is going to try to get away with as much as possible, no matter what. They must be stopped. Blaming those on your side for what was already going to happen is the design.

If you really are not a fan of our politicians, then stop repeating their talking points. Whether you agree with direct action or not, repeating the story that the military in our streets is because of “violence” gives credence to the occupation. Regardless of your position.

So it is virtue signaling to not want people abducted. To support those who are trying to stop it? To redirect the narrative away from what protesters are doing, and direct that attention to the inaction of elected leadership? Cool.
comment in response to post
What you are missing is that they would have done this anyways. On the first day, there were bearcats on the streets. Day one. If you focus on what protesters are doing, your attention is pulled away from the real reason the protests are happening at all. And that is by design. You fell for it.
comment in response to post
We want people with power to have our backs because it is disheartening to feel like we are alone in all this.
comment in response to post
You could have saved us time and just ended your response at: “I’m not thinking anything”. The rest was just redundant.
comment in response to post
If you really want to thank someone for our current situation. Thank the neoliberal democrats that have bent over backwards to appease “centrists” and push for a more militarized police.
comment in response to post
You seriously think that if nothing burned, no one was “violent”, that DHS would have just packed up and gone away? You think Newsom would have lifted a single finger to help people being abducted? You cannot appease RW media. You’ve got CNN saying protesters are shooting cops with rubber bullets.
comment in response to post
Then why are you arresting the people who are using direct action to stop these abductions? Why aren’t you arresting ICE officers? Because you are a collaborator. History will remember you like it remembers Pétain.
comment in response to post
If this really is as outrageous as you say it is, why are you collaborating with these nazis? Why send the police after protesters and not the ICE thugs threatening our state?
comment in response to post
The more I see of all this, the more I think it is time for a new third party. A coalition party made of leftists and all those who are tired of corporate power in our politics. Especially in local elections. The police violence would not have happened if they were called to stop ICE instead.
comment in response to post
Or if the cops were used to stop ICE instead. But no. They would rather “show strength” and collaborate with nazis.
comment in response to post
More worried about “anarchists” than protecting hard working Californians. Yes, I am an anarchist. We don’t want “chaos”. We want to put down authoritarianism. But I guess that would make us your enemies after all. You are fine with authoritarianism so long as you are the one doing it.
comment in response to post
You only care about advancing the to the next rung of the political ladder. You do not care about us. If you did, you would hold your police officers accountable for their blatant use of violence and you would have done more to stop ICE from operating in California. You collaborated with nazis.
comment in response to post
I totally hear what you are saying. You are not wrong at all. I guess what I mean is that instead of directing the cops to break up protests, they could have been directed to stop DHS. You know what I mean?
comment in response to post
I know, having been arrested by both LAPD and Glendale PD(fuck them too). I remember one time being stopped by LAPD one time and the cop was trying to chat me up(because I am a punk), talking about being in FFF as a teen. Yeah.
comment in response to post
It is time for a leftist coalition party.
