Key to this approach is texture elements painted "in situ" — w perspective and lighting. A rough camera move covering the shot (or group of shots) is designed, and then surfaces visible from the camera are identified and rendered out in camera perspective, as guides for texture painting.

"All six of the America based devs" I think this comes down to money and outsourcing plain and simple. Save some cash on the expensive assets stateside and keep a skeleton crew of outsourced talent... Also, do we know if these devs had a profit sharing option? Seems like a standard go-to nowadays
