I’m writing here because we no longer have a functioning judiciary. Democracy is on life support.
So while I watch the protests in the U.S., I also send a wish for visibility.
With respect and solidarity to all those standing up for their rights, wherever they are ❤️

We are all protesting something.
But here in Turkey, the difference is: under government orders, the police have been randomly detaining innocent students, simply for exercising their right to protest.
They are thrown into prisons, kept alongside real criminals. Some have been bullied, humiliated.

The fact that this fight is led by the youth is a source of hope for us all. Right now, 300 students are being held in prison for 8 days, for nothing but raising their voices, sharing their thoughts. We stand with them. And we will keep standing up for our rights.

Bunun bir "taraf" değil; hak, hukuk, adalet meselesi olduğunu konuşmalı fikir önderleri ve sanatçılar. Ancak böyle güçlenebiliriz. Kutuplaştıran ifadelerin sürece hiçbir katkısı yok. Susmanın hiç sırası değil ama ağzından çıkanın seviyesi buysa gerçekten sussan daha iyi olurdu.

Tutuklanmasındaki adaletsizliği zaten ayrı sorguluyoruz fakat, heyet raporunun bu kadar geciktirilmesi, ARAYA BAYRAM GİRMESİ!??, hayatının riske atılması... Bunlar çok kirli oyunlar.

Bilgi; Mahir Polat'ın avukatları daha ilk tutuklanma anında "sağlığı hapishane şartlarına uygun değildir" şeklinde doktor raporu vermişlerdi ancak işe yaramamış, heyet raporu istenmişti.
