Projectile behavior is affected by a collection of "mods" that subscribe to their projectile's events, and interject at various points in its FixedUpdate() physics step. Here are 100 projectiles with the "gravity" and "drunk" mods

It really does feel like that, huh. I don't want to credit myself for intuition on what was mostly luck & circumstance, but damn

I have no regrets. I take a different step at any point in the last 10 years and I never know love like I know today. The odds are so slim... why would I call a mulligan on such a lucky run?

Fucking insane to me that the Scene and/or Game panes generate several KB of garbage every frame though what the fuck are we doing?? Also how have I never experienced such severe GC lag spikes from that despite using this software for a decade+? Mysteries about. Im tird

Testing with more recent versions of the Unity editor: the garbage-generating OnGui calls in the Player pane are inescapable legacy code. Looks like they only generate 9kb of garbage per frame in Unity 6, though, so between that and incremental garbage collection I shouldn't experience those spikes

Turns out something in the Unity Editor is calling IMGUIContainer (which is supposed to be a deprecated feature??) and generating approximately 20-50kb of garbage every frame, even when the game isn't running. It's doing this even on a new empty project with this version. I'm going insane

Turns out it isn't my fault and SOMETHING in this unity project is making Virtual Machine (Mono) generate approximately 20 megabytes of garbage per second, even when I back up & remove all of the code I've written. Memory profiler can't find it. Stupid software is gaslighting me

Update: Something I wrote is shitting with such volume and ferocity that the garbage collector is having to clean up almost a gigabyte every 30 seconds. Pretend I posted the "I'm a genius -- OH NO" meme here

I think it hits different because the star of the show, Susie, is both a Poor Kid and a Scary Kid. She shows up to school hungry and gets treated by everyone, even adults, like a small threatening adult. Most American media about kids since WWII either ignores or benignly others kids like that

Finished 3 & 4 this last weekend. Really special. Fox knows how to evoke feelings from childhood that most media about kids forgets. Very sentimental but never blinkered by nostalgia. Aud compared it to Stephen King's It and I'm still turning that comparison over in my head

So much of that game is its restrictions and lack of visual fidelity, it took hardware limitations and used them as tools. Played it for the first time in 2018 and it scared the shit out of me. Who watches Jacob's Ladder and says "this would be so much better if Tim Robbins could move while aiming?"

I think even if your story has a bunch of fake stuff it's gotta be about real problems. A story with space crystals can still be about things like getting old, or your relationship with your parents or your job. It's when the problems are space-crystal specific that things go sour

That game does so many whippits that it forgets it's about vampires a couple hours in. By the end it's just Naruto but they're wearing red & black tripp pants and all the usual Souls tchotchkes are called shit like "Blood Prisms"

Stats don't mean anything during NG, there's nothing stopping you from just levelling everything to 20-25 and experimenting with weapons/magic to your heart's content as you go! If you really want to, the tea house shop sells respec items for a pittance

The secret to loving Nioh is to cross your eyes ever-so-slightly while you play so it becomes impossible to read numbers or most text. This removes the illusion that you are playing a game with "RPG and randomized loot elements" and frees you to enjoy the real game, Ryu Hayabusa's Pro Skater Gaiden
