This (supposedly comic) novel is not for the casual reader. I can't even say I enjoyed it. But I had to see what the fuss was about. There's nothing offensive in here except that it's too long, too dense, and too boring! Book bans really are nothing except the expression of fragility. #booksky

Devolves into an underwhelming revenge fantasy in the end. But it's a Serious Book for Serious Readers, and so it gets raves ... Skip this. Read Wide Sargasso Sea instead. #booksky #james #percivaleverett

Recently learned about Gabriele Münter, German expressionist, member of Der Blaue Reiter, and lady friend of Kandinsky. I don't know what this painting on the right is called. Should be titled "RBF, 1910." Love her Edwardian sass. Painting nite w @melvinpena.bsky.social #artsky

My friend @melvinpena.bsky.social and I love #piranesi so much that we challenged each other to paint the cover art. Had fun making this little bookmark, though the 1 hr time limit made it challenging! Will try again soon! #booksky #artsky

Wm Carlos Williams, Chekhov, Somerset Maugham: it's interesting to see how medical training seeps into literary output. Mason (a psychiatrist) is no Chekhov, and this is def a "book club book," but North Woods is well worth an afternoon read. #booksky #northwoods

10/10 for lacanian craziness! The entire premise is built around méconnaissance. Our hero is trapped in a House that represents the Symbolic Order, which he tries to structure - and impose meaning on -through journaling, cataloging & mapping. Plus a character named The Other! #piranesi #booksky

Found this chubby little fella on Reddit and had to paint him! #artsky

"Everything that's happening is coordinated by someone behind the scenes with one goal: to completely ruin scientific research ... they want to ruin science's reputation in society. Of course some people have always engaged in anti-science activities but now it's coordinated." #booksky

Book #8 of 2025. A major subplot involves government censorship of even the most trivial expression of dissent. Very timely.... #booksky
