I'm Zoe, sapphic gamedev. One of the good ones but in the bad way. Montreal based programmer and technical artist. Almost definitely taller than you.

Lmao it's Krog, I remember working on that in 2nd year.
Godot is cool as hell. I hope that in the next few years it can start to compete with Unity and Unreal. I would love to have a FOSS option that is as good as the big engines.

If I remember correctly, THE FUCKING SCOPE IS BOUND TO THE SQUARE BRACKETS BY DEFAULT
WHOSE IDEA WAS THAT

It's not a good port and I think you can find a better way to play it. Deus Ex deserves it.

This is the situation I still have and use my Steam Controller for. I prefer gamepad comfort and don't mind spending a bit figuring out a custom control scheme for PC games from before gamepad support was standard.
Steam Input is amazing software. When I get GRS soon it's gonna save me.

The defining console of my childhood, for sure. Zelda OoT / MM were defining games for me that I still hope to pay homage to in my career.

Deus Ex an amazing game and this sounds like a great excuse for another playthrough

Just the whole brown and bloom 7th gen aesthetic is the ugliest games ever were and I don't wanna see it again.

I don't care if you change stuff this is literally made up, do whatever and hopefully it's good. When the core of someone's argument is "they changed stuff from the source material" or whatever I'm just like, okay but is it good?

It's a noble goal! We all want community... Unfortunately it just attracts the wrong people

AI being bad at what it does makes what they're building much scarier than if they were competent. They're going to try and use it to do some Minority Report bullshit by applying behavioral models of dissidents and it's gonna make the surveillance state way more dangerous.

It's similar to being autistic, or a lesbian, where yeah these are really important parts of who I am but engaging in community solely based around that ends up going weird culty places.
The coolest people I've met who I share this stuff in common with I met in spaces based around my hobbies.

People who choose to spend all their time in trans discord servers get kinda deranged. Those places are great for babytrans people who need a safe space but eventually you gotta leave the nest and be a whole person.
comment in response to

I love having trans friends but being trans isn't a personality and if that's all we have in common, or that's the only overlapping characteristic of a community, it leads to an obsessive fixation on that, and that drives people internet crazy.
comment in response to

And I love having friends who I share certain identities with, but the ones who I meet through other channels end up being way better for me than the ones who I meet solely because we're both trans or whatever.

I'll buy like one of those $80 USD Anbernic devices, load it up with custom firmware and games to be as easy to use as possible, and give it to someone who used to like games but doesn't have time anymore.
Every single time they end up loving it and playing the shit out of it.

I found as I got happier the way I engage with games totally changed. I went from gatekeeping "hardcore" gamer bro to someone who wants to share all of the cool weird games I love with the people I care about.
My #1 favorite birthday gift is an emulator handheld loaded with old games.

That's 100% fair, I have a lot more energy for that than most people, especially when they often say really problematic shit that I have to respond to diplomatically

The best thing you can do is show them how successful and happy you are, be welcoming and kind, and maybe if they have enough such interactions they may realize that the world outside of their church is a place they could find themselves. They're in a cult that uses isolation to keep them.
comment in response to

I invite them in and offer them tea. I'm nice, talk to them, but I make it clear who I am and why I won't join their religion.
The reason their churches make them do this isn't as much to gain followers as it is to make them suffer rejection and isolation, it keeps them trapped in their faith 1/2
