When starting out, and looking for a ham radio, you need to ask what you want to do with it and how you will fit into your existing lifestyle. Ie do you want to get into local repeaters and talk to the locals? Do you want HF to talk across the country? Are you a camper/prepper or sofa surfer? 🤔

ISS Detector is the app I am using on Android. I upgraded to the paid version so it tracks lots more objects. Ie cool comits, amsats, etc
It also has an aiming feature to help you track. This summer I plan to barrow a handheld sat antenna again for another try at them.

That's pretty cool. I have seen it streak by here in Seattle. I have an issue tracker app that will track it and other amateur sats. I picked up a PDF book from amsat called Getting Stated with Amateur Satellites, it says there are easier to get into sats (ISS is busy)

I did a VW camping event last weekend and unfortunately none of the Canadians would cross the border. I support their choice, but not much turnout without them. It's going to be interesting camping without them this summer. 🇨🇦🇺🇦🇪🇺

Oh I am totally loving your podcast, I am up to Ep10 or so now. As someone who likes in Seattle I always get a kick of hearing outsiders describing our city via Shadowrun sourcebooks. Washington Lake 🔄🤣 or which direction is X or such... Very Entertaining pod Chummers
