Still riding the high of my bishop telling me three days ago that they are lucky to have me in Connecticut. Never underestimate the power of a compliment.

I accidentally spilled mouthwash on my sweatshirt the other day. Now all my laundry is minty fresh.

Today my spiritual mentor died of cancer. She was the priest who led my discernment team for the priesthood and stayed on afterwards, leading me in discernment through the first years of clergy life, helping me not to quit the whole endeavor. Rest in love, Jean. Well done, good and faithful servant.

When Bishop Budde spoke truth to power in the worship service Donald attended, she spoke with the power of the commitments of The Episcopal Church, upholding what the denomination has resolved to do in our General Convention. She was truly representing the people who elected her.

Unrivaled is here and it's so good!

Ouuh I just love this one it is so me!

Looked through a SNAP food application today at my MSW internship. One question was: Does your household make less than $150 a month pre-tax? Think about that.

Last night I was in Walgreens and saw the person ahead of me and the cashier smiling and joking together in ASL, obviously well acquainted with each other. It was beautiful. As for closed captioning v. Sign language interpretation, do you even watch things with closed captioning? It sucks.

If you are going to pick any president as your role model, pick Carter.

I really don't love that a fire is blasting through one of the most populous cities in the US, especially right before Donald is inaugurated again. I mean, what is he going to do? Throw paper towels at it?

What makes America great? I don't know, but going to a local Puerto Rican restaurant where English is rarely spoken and getting amazing empanadas is pretty darn good. Puerto Rico has some of the best food in the US.

Please let folks know about this in congregations and communities (there is so much fear right now). ⚓️🏳️‍⚧️

If we are the body of Christ that means that sometimes the hands have to clean up after the bum hole. And friends, the bum has been spewing unfettered in the US for too long.

I found one of my favorite authors through Ed. Ed is not someone I know beyond a "Hello". He works at the library and lives in my building. You can't miss Ed, he has a long beard and only wears shorts. When I received a librarian favs list I looked for what Ed picked. It was great. Librarians rule.

@scalzi.com I checked out your book Agent to the Stars from my public library and found that it was a signed first edition. I had never seen that at a library before and I wonder if they received one because they were one of the first people to order the book?

Someone asked, "What do we call the opposite of White Christian Nationalism?" Perhaps it should be called Care for All.

You don't make a country healthy by denying medical research and making best practices illegal. You don't make a country more Christian by doing that either. All that does is create more death.

I was handed a red ribbon at church today. Never forget those who have died and thank God for new treatments that save lives.

Sitting after Thanksgiving dinner listening to trans women talk bras. I'm so thankful for my community.

In case you didn't know, MAGA is a quote from Reagan that has been used to ignite the fire of those who supported the Moral Majority. None of what has happened with Trump makes sense without looking back at what happened in the late 1970's & 1980's with Paul Weyrich courting fundamentalists.

I've been thinking about this poem by Langston Hughes recently and although it was published in 1931, it remains relevant as ever. #books #reading #booksky #poetry

According to Project 2025: +Fatherlessness is the root of many ills, +Making work requirements for SNAP somehow helps families +Parents are the primary educators of their children and schools can't say things about gender identity or structural racism +Oh and trans = pornography

I was listening to a thriller the other day and I'm still caught up on the fact that the main character brought an American cheese sandwich with mustard for lunch to their internship. Yes, they have no money but mustard with American cheese? Why?

Sometimes our dog perfectly captures how I feel.

Hey all, I'm a newbie. I read a lot. I'm getting a Master's in Social Work, with particular interest in medical social work. I'm also an Episcopal priest. My wife and I have 2 cats and a dog whom we adore. And I'm happy to be on Blue Sky with you all.
