The fact that Windows 10 is "finished" and Windows 11 doesn't allow you to create shortcuts without accessing the W10 menu blows my mind. This company is worth TRILLIONS

lol these people are VASTLY overestimating the average players skill and game literacy

To the Moon?

I have ~20h of playtime like you and I'm terrified of the scope of the game it seems like such an insane project.
I'm really happy to see Kodaka and Uchikoshi have so much ambitions for their ideas

I played for 2 hours today without making any progress due to a lack of resources or by not getting the rooms and items I needed. (day25)
It's so frustrating, I know where to go and what to do but my runs keep stopping because of stuff out of my control. (Or that I don't know how to control yet)

I want to love it, I never took that many notes and screenshots while playing a game before.
But "losing" a run where I had 90% of what I needed and having no progression because I was unlucky at the last part is just too frustrating.

Then I think you'll really enjoy it. I loved Cruelty Squad for the same reasons: getting lost in a strange world with its unique logic and own rules that you end up understanding through seeing the vision of the artist. Few games manage that.

The future is uncertain but things won't stay that way. The question is when. Meanwhile, we can only hope for the best and try to use our team in meaningful ways 🙏

for professionals, the crisis is massive (sadly talking from experience lmao), but for consumers good and great games will still release.
For better or worse, there will always be passionate people doing their best to make something worth playing. Tools have never been more accessible as well.

I still think a middle ground can be found. Or at least something close enough.
The industry could shift towards shorter, cheaper experiences, taking more risks with a bigger emphasis on creativity. Basically, decently scoped AA games that could easily coexist with bigger live service products

Yeah try to start simple, and if you struggle, remember to benchmark to have a lot of references; it always helps to find some inspiration.
If you find projects that fit your "vibe" study them a bit. It doesn't have to be the same medium; some websites have some excellent ideas!

thanks for sharing why would anyone do that ffs

having guidelines and being flexible on the design is always more interesting to create memorable experiences, it creates the best games imo
But it greatly limits the size and scope of your project. If your team starts to get bigger coordinating and having a shared vision becomes almost impossible

ideally, it helps understand and communicate the emotions that your experience wants to convey. Even with placeholder assets simple shapes and colors can evoke a variety of feelings.
Finding what fits the intended experience the best is the tough part

yeah it really surprised me how the full voice acting kinda took away from my experience. Seems like being alone with the words made them hit harder

I guess it's more reassuring to believe that someone somewhere has a plan and is "in control" instead of the harsh reality that no one knows that they're doing on this planet lmao

Ça a largement amélioré mon expérience.
