I don't know if it's too harsh to say that as a developer, I don't really care about multiplayer.
Buuuuut I don't really care about multiplayer. I want to make fantastic single-player games that take advantage of things you couldn't do if it needed to work in mp as well.

I like to play fantastic single player experiences
Many fantastic single player games utilize concepts and ideas that doesn’t work well in multiplayer, and story focused games can also easily struggle with mp
I love when fantastic single player games have coop/mp as an option, but only if it doesn’t come at the detriment of the game.
If your story is for singleplayer, make your game for singleplayer.
Not every story is ment to be told to you with others around you, and some are ment to be experienced with someone by your side.
Both are valid.
But you're right - not everything needs it, and it can be very detrimental.
these sorts of in depth Story you can connect with
Someone else needed to say it.
Looking at you FFXIV, stop wasting money on PvP!
However, I will just suggest that, if, you can add MP while still maintaining a great SP base game, you may open it up to a bit larger player base.
The exception is Dark Souls style PvP.
PvP > PvE
At least for me.
Still, I really appreciate that devs like you exist!!! Doing god’s work lol.
That being said, I love me a co-op campaign. The experience of a great story is, for me personally, heightened when shared with friends.
If you don't want to do it, don't do it!
A game that need multiplayer to work shouldn't be forced to have a singleplayer campaign, either.
