Yep. Twitter is getting worst as there more pro invade Greenland and more annex Canada and do war crimes accounts going. A lot of division and hate on Twitter now.
I randomly open it up and see some friends still posting. But the amount of accounts posting random video clips and other stuff just makes it embarrassing to open it especially near others. It’s a lot of trash over there.
Remade my account over there to show people to pop over here to find me. The algorithm the brand new account had was horrific. All Nazi stuff and Elon.
You can't convince a cultist that they are in a death cult.
They have to feel the consequences of their blind devotion before they will question their choice of Dear Leader.
They are gone until Trump screws them along with the rest of us.
I only have my account to keep my name and had set it to private. Haven't checked in on that site in months but sounds like all I am missing out on is the fascist circle jerk.
I deleted my account so Elon's user number would go down. I am sometimes intrigued to go back to see how bad it is, then I realise it's not a healthy head space!
Every time I do anything, there’s zero interaction there. When I browse, it’s a bunch of horrible stuff that sets off my PTSD. I’ll give it a hard no for sure.
Same. A friend sent me a link to something funny there and I looked at the main feed and the amount of seething hatred is overwhelming. It honestly makes me worried for society at large if everyone’s that angry. I mean…*gestures at everything* clearly.
Yeah like just a click or to away, and there's guaranteed to be a triggering post and/or a fight going on there all the time.
Bluesky waaaaaaaay more normal and chill, even when people are fighting/debating over an issue here.
Oh yeah I definitely see it. It makes it so much worse to see folks arguing with bots as well. >_>;
And they keep posting more and more incendiary replies to keep the engagement going.
That place ruined my whole personality. If I was in a good mood 5 minutes on there and I was angry, mad, and depressed. I left the day after the election and haven't looked back. I'm thankful for BlueSky.
I left xwitter the day after the election, too. Shut down my account because I never wanted to go back to those threads of lies, attacks, misinformation, and masses of bots and trolls.
I only wish a lot of my favorite posters came over here already.
I also miss people talking about niche things, which hasn't taken off here in the same way just because the niche spaces are still pretty small &/or sporadic.
None of that makes Twitter acceptable to return to tho.
A few months before I deleted I set up an extra art project related account with an innocuous name but ended up not using it. When I checked on it before deleting, the feed and recommendations were gummed up with nothing but the worst of the worst.
Default algo: “let’s assume this is a Proud Boy”
Twitter was the first time I got on social media. I left as soon as that idiot whose parents can't spell "Leon" correctly took over. Since then, I've left IG and Threads, as Suckerville also had orange on his nose. Don't miss them at all. I'm on Blue and Tribel. That's more than enough.
MAGAts act like subversive sleeper agents who aren't even aware of their status. They've been programmed and radicalized by decades of propaganda, which really kicked into gear when Reagan rescinded the Fairness Doctrine in 1987. Then Trump came along and gave them permission to hate.
You need to highlight the part religion and churches played in priming their minds for this shit and assuring them it was right. Don't let them off easy.
It was rhetorical lol, but yes. I grew up in the south and this is a viciously full throated issue for me. Always has been bc I've heard them fantasize about this very era all my life. I was always called an alarmist about, ESPECIALLY, southern culture and religion. Now we're exactly where I warned.
Prior to the late 70's, even most Republicans were concerned about letting the zealots stick their noses under the tent. If Jesus appeared today, preaching tolerance and charity, many evangelicals would crucify Him all over again for opposing their "gospel of prosperity."
But here in the south that wasn't fully true; can't speak for anywhere else. But down here religion poked its nose into *everything else*, and by virtue of politics being all around us bc it affects everything? They had their hands in it; they just changed the route it those hands took. 👇🏻 🧵
The quoted writer has a story about that to describe how a N@zi bar come to be relayed to him by a bartender. He left this message upon leaving Twitter last year: https://xcancel.com/IamRageSparkle
I go back there from time to time but any kind of measured conversation is a thing of the past. It’s all ‘libtards’, ‘cry more’, ‘tarriffs are great’, & Doge or crypto. Then bizarre incest cartoons 🤷♀️
The purpose of Twitter is to convince people that the fridge right wing bullshit is somehow a mainstream ideology. It’s the internet equivalent of flooding the zone with shit. Half the site is just LLM-driven bot accounts capable of debating, posting, even DM’ing forever.
Fighting the white racist haters after George Floyd's murder on Craigslist in Minneapolis area prepared me for the worst. Pages and pages 24/7 nonstop vile threats ETC. That is what Twitter became.
It’s not that much better here? Was kind of hoping for music, hobbies, cool shit and a bit of happiness but it’s basically just more Trump stuff with a little less force-fed red hat propaganda
It's much better here. I see lots of happiness with pets, beautiful photography, some humor and yes, music.
Sadly though the trump stuff is important to follow in order to be informed and hopefully protect ourselves from it.
You do have to actively look for those things and interact with them often if you want them to show up. A good tip is to follow a TON of artists. Look for different accounts that pertain to games, movies, series, etc. I'm sure the algorithm will catch up with the cool stuff soon after that.
It does make me wonder if isolation in an echo chamber was the whole point, though. It is how radical idealism has flourished for centuries. The internet (and social media) was finally starting to break down those barriers.
It drives me crazy that people i like and respect can say in the same breath "yeah it's fucking terrible over there is all bots and nazis", and ::irritated::" you can't just expect everybody to go over to bluesky". It's like, yeah, YEAH, I actually can expect exactly that
My account is still on there but I was banned long ago for making a second account to get around a temporary. (I didn't know! I've been on social media since MySpace and never been punished at all, so I didn't know that was a permanent "offense"). I just don't have the stomach to get on to delete.
I am not returning to full usage. I've barely linked onto it. There's just zero point. So even the morbid curiosity isn't enough for me to poke back in.
I left months ago because if I wanted to be spammed with MS Paint “memes” of grotesque caricatures of people like me killing themselves I’d be on 8chan
This same place is our “echo chamber” in a way. No need to convince anybody here although I see a few starting to show up. It's certainly a good place to get at the truth. In an odd way X forces me to think more completely.
Not at all lol, there are plenty of disagreements to be had among the “everyone except Nazis” crowd and they’re actually worth having because liberals, SocDems and Marxists are capable of communicating without purely bad-faith grifts.
I joined because in December, I didn't have any expectations other than I don't like Musk and I heard it was upsetting him. I was not expecting as many like minded people as I have found. But I will say I'm pleased to find community here, if that's an echo chamber, so be it
I know it’strange but looking at lies makes me think more and try to look at both sides. I’ve learned about Brookfield and the oil and gas industry and even after all the time spent realize I still don't know enough.
Yeah, I had my 'moment' back in November or December. Went to check up on things and every single one of the trending topics I just knew (and confirmed) would be packed full of Musk's insufferable sycophants posting shitty gotchas. Deactivated the same day.
Facebook is just as bad. It has turned into a MAGA sewer. MAGAts love what trump is doing, and don't think that Nazi Germany can't happen here because based on the glee they express when people get illegally deported or lose jobs, it sure as hell can. Their hatred of trans people is terrifying.
I’m wondering how many of the commenters on (for example) Fox’s posts are bots or alt accounts. Many of the comments are so effusive, it seems artificial.
Then the replies to those comments are full of either “yep, agree” or “no, you’re so wrong.”
I’m often to go back on my friends I left there. But I never do. I don’t want to have to reup, I deleted my account. I know Musk doesn’t deserve any new users, even if it’s for just a few minutes. I can only hope that someone is missing me, too.
Yeah if you don’t keep liking/bookmarking/interacting with things that you’re into your feed will devolve into madness. My feed right now is pretty much just cool art, fandom stuff, and fashion, same as it ever was. Sucks that it is like that tho

Leave that cesspit to the turds.
Unusable
Why they're putting out updates about that in the hive of the enemy is beyond me. No one who cares about their safety should stay on Twitter.
They have to feel the consequences of their blind devotion before they will question their choice of Dear Leader.
They are gone until Trump screws them along with the rest of us.
How many misinformation bots does Elon have?
Is this why he's allegedly in arrears in paying loans he got to buy Twitter?
If so, why would banker(s) grant a loan to buy the AI?
Bluesky waaaaaaaay more normal and chill, even when people are fighting/debating over an issue here.
I’m up for an engaging conversation about many things and it doesn’t involve rage.
And they keep posting more and more incendiary replies to keep the engagement going.
I also miss people talking about niche things, which hasn't taken off here in the same way just because the niche spaces are still pretty small &/or sporadic.

Every comment just pure hate.
now it just has the most rank ass vibes lol
It's not in the Bible.
Sadly though the trump stuff is important to follow in order to be informed and hopefully protect ourselves from it.
I hop in just to send a few targeted Fuck You's and I told you so's
and what I stumble on is eeeewww
I burned the bridge for a reason.
It’s a cesspool over there
Then the replies to those comments are full of either “yep, agree” or “no, you’re so wrong.”
