I understand the reluctance to be run off social media by pitiable people, but it's interesting that you and others still post commentary on X while people are replying by the dozen to tell you to cry more, and worse. That's not happening here, yet. Why not not be abused?
The joy at the Conservatives losing in July didn't really last that long, nor was there a nagging desire to see them all ground into dust. Rather than dwell on them, I'd rather I could just ignore - no easy task with our news media.
I saw that, but can't pretend to know what the longterm implications are for what so far has been a good place. As long as there's no algorithm there's hope.
Thanks Ian, I needed that. As the day has gone on I have started to realise why leaving Twitter and moving to BlueSky was absolutely the right decision. There have been some great insights that have really brightened my mood and helped me find some optimism on this miserable day.
Had a long walk this morning & listened to an old episode of AIOTM (aiotm!). Cleared leaves from lawn & path this pm. Archived any political podcast episodes that popped up. Going to open a bottle of decent wine tonight. Despair can wait for another day.
All other variables being equal, I wonder if RW haters have a lower life expectancy than normal well-adjusted people? Could be a good subject for a PhD.
