Here comes the woke mob again. Just because you take a single comic frame out of context doesn't mean he was doing a Nazi salute. He was making an impassioned gesture due to the rudeness of Churchill
I'm gonna ummmm both-sides this, because Churchill was also definitely a genocidal fascist of a different type, and they'd both already be recurring guests on The Joseph Rogan Radio Programme... 🫢 but an excellent point well made, nonetheless.
I have been reading William Shirer's Memoirs and Hitler's responses to Churchill and Roosevelt were similar to this in tone if not specifics. Had a whole speech more or less setting up Roosevelt as a comedic punching bag, mugging for the crowd and everything.
I actually sent this to someone I was chatting to this week in response to him wanging on about people being judged for sharing platforms with the far right, and he accused this cartoon of advocating for censorship. So, er, 🤷

Stephen is as ever very witty, but the position back in 1930s wasn’t so different. OK, there was no social media, no TV, and radio was in its infancy so “balance” in broadcasting wasn’t a thing, but many newspaper proprietors were unabashedly pro-Nazi right until 3 Sep 1939.
This is exactly what I see every time I watch the mainstream mediathese days. Platforming fascists and conspiracy theorists in the deluded belief that it gives balance to an argument. Also, they ARE Nazis. Even the guy who came up with Godwin's Law says so:
Churchill was an absolute shit who only had one answer to most questions - "let's do violence!" - and was lucky enough to live in one of the few parts of history where that was the right answer.
But I think it's pretty likely that the cartoon works better with him as everyone knows who he was!
That's a bold claim; enlighten me. Am I supposed to think Hitler would have calmed down at some point? That fighting the Nazis was bad - or unnecessary? There's a huge difference between "the allies did some bad shit" and "doing violence to Nazis wasn't the right thing to do".
And while we're at it: was Churchill's hawkish stance at least partly a self-promoting career move to wrest control from the cautious, unfairly-lambasted and less-rowdy Chamberlain? Sure. But doing violence to Nazis was still the correct course of action.
Yep. But when the question is 'Is the bastard fighting Nazis?' The correct answer is 'If he is, he's doing the right thing'. Nazis don't get to be equal.
I wonder if any of the courageous people commenting are going to put their uniform on or get their children to fight in this war you're salivating over? Russia can barely even take the Donbas and you're comparing them to the most advanced military nation in the 40's who swept through Europe?
I saw the cartoon as ridiculing the BBC giving both sides air time. As if Russia and their arguments shouldn't be given air time. And I thought if there's no dialogue then it'll lead to more war, so who's going to fight? But is it more to do with Farage/Tice generally being given air time?

Since 1940 we have had more chances to evaluate morality, ethics, and the effects on other human beings.
Trump and Musk can be aware of that but choose to ignore humanity.
Well I guess at least you've learnt where it leads, a bit too late for everyone, but you've learnt
Good cartoon though
