That’s what got me paxlovid ages ago. That and a run in with TB, yes that TB, years ago. It was latent but still had to be treated and I think there’s always a risk it reinfects later in life. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
TB is wicked. It usually appears in the respiratory system bc that’s its first landing place, but it can develop in any part of the body.
Any. body. part.
And likely is. A chest xray did pick up a spot on my lung which turned out wasn’t the TB but instead a tumor. But wouldn’t know that it was a harmless childhood hematoma until several tests and a removal later. 🫠
It’s true that RFK & co don’t believe in it but to answer the quesiron of how can PWLc get vax— most people w LC can just say inactive (because PEM forces people with LC to be inactive). Or depressed because having LC would make anyone depressed.
But are they saying they'll approve 2025-2026 boosters with this qualification list, or are they restricting the 2024-2025 ones to this qualification list?
yeah - I mean it's separate patterns here; the CDC is tracking a very long list of conditions associated with higher risk, and then they just pull the list from that and say "here's what you need!"
I’ve got 5 (I counted mental health as a group instead of sub categorically) & I think they missed at least one disease that I would think would cause increased risk: gastroparesis
I would think malnutrition would make one more susceptible 🤔
How does this work for millions of kids, many of whom don’t have parents who’d push to find a loophole so their kids get vaccinated?
(Nevermind that vaccines need mass uptake to be very effective, but the average adult won’t seek a vax, esp. if it’s not recommended by public health guidance.)
Doc: "Do you smoke?"
Me: "All the time! Pack or two a day!"
**Pulls out candy cigarettes**
Doc: "Eh, good enough, you should quit, but until then here is your booster shot."
Plan A: Tell the pharmacist I'm depressed (they give me Zoloft, so I like my odds)
Plan B: Gain 10 pounds to qualify under BMI
Plan C: Stop going for walks to qualify as "physical inactivity"
Plan D: Take up smoking.
Oh yeah! I used the BMI one to jump the line when the vaccines first became available in 2020! First time BMI came in handy (and only time I ever rounded my height DOWN and weight UP 😅)!
EUGENICS CONSPIRACY, a plan to ERADICATE THE GENETICALLY INFIRM AND MEDICALLY MALIGNANT
Step 1: make a list of the genetically infirm and medically malignant
Step 2: limit essential health care so that only they can get it
Step 3: ???
Step 4: infinite eugenic supremacist empire

I volunteered in hospitals for a while but not exactly sure where I encountered it otherwise.
Any. body. part.
… at about the same tender age when our shared grandmother was orphaned by the traditional respiratory TB 40-some years earlier
I worry about the food industry screwing around with antibiotics—we're gonna end up right back there
I don’t have documented clinical depression (have documented anxiety) but I’m willing to say I do. And physical inactivity seems good for me too.
Woo boy what a me-sized loop hole to walk through!

The background is here. "Disabilities" is a little vague but the full list
