Concentration camp shit.

As @andreapitzer.bsky.social discusses in her masterful history of concentration camps—One Long Night—articulating coerced detainee labor to corporate (or state) interests is a long-standing & widespread characteristic of concentration camps.

Prison companies pay detainees $1/day for doing what they've contracted to do for ICE.

Get paid big taxpayer funded bucks and make detainees do the work?

Companies say the work is strictly voluntary.

But, if they don't work, detainees are threatened with solitary confinement or criminal charges.
