This is in German from Govt. but can be dropped into e.g. googletranslate. Up to 800 Watt PV without difficulty plugged into a standard 230v outlet. They blend in architecturally with balconies and there‘re thousands. Smart metre essential.

I looked at retrofitting one in my house. Would have had pipes running down walls in every room, radiators on 2 walls per room, and I’d lose 2 cupboards in my small kitchen. And the only place to put the fan/pump would have blocked access to my garden. A complete non-starter.

This is yet another instance of good thinking producing bad law.

We should indeed require new homes to generate their own electricity. But legislating that they MUST have solar panels is very bad legislation that WILL produce bad [hard] cases.

Such legislation would not, for example, permit solar tiles to replace solar panels. Or solar glass to replace solar panels. Or solar paint to replace ...

The point is that legislation should specifiy WHAT is to happen, not how.
Technology changes rapidly; far faster than law can keep up with.
