UK Gov approval for #LutonAirport to nearly double in size is grossly negligent. Promises of 'Sustainable' aviation fuels are a ridiculous misdirection. There are 3 categories: 🔴 Waste oil 🔴 Synthetic fuels made with renewable power 🔴 Plant-based fuels Here are the killer problems with each 🧵:

This is a grave mistake from a Government led by lobbyists, deaf to science: ❌ Pushing 'Sustainable Aviation Fuels', all of which are utterly fake. See thread 👇 ❌ Now, capping extra costs at £1.50 per flight by using public money to pay the extra cost to produce SAF. @heidialexander.bsky.social

If the economy is growing, and migration is high, then how can migration be bad for the economy? If the economy is growing, why are we cutting PIP? The truth is, austerity is a con, designed to extract wealth away from the workers and into the hands of the elite.

⭐Excited to share this article I wrote for @TeachPrimary magazine! ⭐ I ask WHY #Teachers and #Pupils are STILL left to repeatedly catch airborne diseases in schools when we KNOW that #HEPA filters would reduce sickness and improve #attendance? Full magazine here: cdn.teachwire.net/e-mag/Teach-...

Infectious disease minimizers and media who platformed them own this as much as antivaxxers do. globalnews.ca/news/1116848...

We need airborne disease control measures in hospitals and across society.

Such an informative #LongCOVID ‘Questions and Answers’ presentation by Prof. Akiko Iwasaki, @virusesimmunity.bsky.social It’s so important to recognise the airborne nature of this dreadful disease and its implications, for us all, particularly those most vulnerable. www.youtube.com/watch?v=ilIO...

🧵A thread on #LabourLies re: #disabilty and #welfare. Ministers claim taking away #DisabilityBenefits would "get people into work". Whipping MPs to vote for this in weeks, the benefit they're rushing to strip #PIP is not an unemployment one, but it helps many disabled people #work. www.gov.uk/pip

Excited to attend the APPG roundtable on the Clean Air Strategy Review at the Houses of Parliament. My goal was to ensure that indoor air quality in schools remains central to conversations. Grateful for the opportunity to contribute. #SafeAirSchools

'If the government had listened to experts and implemented the same strategies used in other countries, 180,000 lives may have been saved during the peak of the Covid pandemic', the UK Covid Inquiry heard yesterday. East Asian death rates were five times lower than in the UK.

5 years of posting and writing about Cövid 🧠 Damage... I guess, you can't say we weren't warned. Pity about the political ignorance and the veil of Xanax they've perfused through Public Health. But, I'm no expert.

Why isn't the COVID inquiry headline news every week? The need to forget past/ongoing trauma & get back to "normal" is so strong that we ignore ~0.25M deaths and vast complex morbidity. Appointing folks with more experience of gymkhanas than genomics to run #NHSTestandTrace speaks volumes🤦‍♂️

Today, the Covid Inquiry heard how Boris Johnson lied to the British public about the UK's ability to Test & Trace. Those in power knew that a lack of planning and underinvestment had left the country unprepared, and they tried to cover it up. Our loved ones paid the price.

Starmer is simultaneously detoxifying Reform and toxifying the Labour Party. I ask again, what is he playing at?

When will Starmer learn that no matter how good his Nigel Farage impression gets, it won't save him from wipeout at the hands of Reform? Here's another idea - how about doing the work that's needed to actually make people's lives better? 🧵

NHS planning to cut doctors/nurses jobs, maternity and A&E services to meet the govt's “eye watering” NHS savings. Cuts will force more people to go private. Healthcare must come before fiscal rules. Private firms milking 30%-40% profit from NHS contracts. End privatisation. Tax the rich.

With thanx to @harryspoelstra.bsky.social Don't get Covid... It's not your friend☠️☠️ www.nature.com/articles/s41...

Our group published this paper yesterday showing possible post-Covid impacts on cardiovascular stress responses in otherwise healthy adults "History of COVID-19 infection is associated with disrupted cardiovascular stress response habituation in physically active people" #LongCovid #OpenAccess

A particularly clear and helpful explanation of new learning on the underlying disease mechanisms (endotypes) beneath the term 'Long Covid', and the implications for treatment.

Great to see this paper out, showing persistent heart and lung inflammation in people with #LongCOVID, but also highlighting once again that SARS-CoV-2 is a virus that profoundly affects vascular health and that every new infection can do damage. www.mountsinai.org/about/newsro...

Don't take it from me. Take it from the government's own assessment: Everything Keir Starmer and Rachel Reeves have said about nature protection blocking house building is big fat shining lie. A lie now being locked into legislation before Parliament. www.theguardian.com/environment/...

Labour might wonder why, less than a year into a new government promising “change”, people are giving up on it in droves. So let me help it out with a few clues. 1. Cutting disability benefits 2. Freezing Local Housing Allowance. 3. Maintaining the cruel, Malthusian two-child benefit cap .... 🧵

Clinical trial underway for potential Long Covid treatment. "A clinical trial is underway to assess the effectiveness and safety of Sipavibart, AstraZeneca’s long-acting monoclonal antibody designed to provide protection against COVID-19, as a potential treatment for Long Covid." #LongCOVID

The Planning Bill "would have the effect of reducing the level of environmental protection... As drafted, the provisions are a regression." The Office for Environmental Protection (OEP) gives its damning verdict: www.theoep.org.uk/report/oep-g...

I need you lads to understand that Europe has an average birth rate of about 1.4 No charismatic politician bothered to tell you how fucked that makes us. But as we get older, we need more care, more GP appointments… Without immigration we will have no pensions very quick.

(... which is more than Reform, by the way)

To be clear, the centre ground on net zero is that the public are broadly supportive - even if there is some conditionality to that support. The idea that net zero is a source of significant electoral discomfort for Labour is a zombie political fact.

There is a tonne of misinformation and disinformation about mrna vaccines now. The policy implications in US could have grave consequences given the potential for mrna vaccines especially in cancer care. I discuss this here #Immunosky 🧪

Ministers have no idea how much impact their cuts to disabled people’s benefits will have on levels of disability poverty, the Department for Work and Pensions has admitted. www.disabilitynewsservice.com/ministers-ar...

If you want a good indication for how absolutely out of touch with reality this government is proposed cuts to disability support would be a pretty good starting point. It is a vastly counterproductive policy which will force more people into poverty. www.disabilitynewsservice.com/ministers-ar...

Pretty vile to hear Labour MPs concluding they need to shift even further right. Serving billionaire donors whilst destroying peoples living standards & our communities has created Reform. We need to grow our movement so Labour is more worried about @greenparty.org.uk than Reform.

Under first past the post Reform can take over the UK with around 34% of the votes just as Labour did. Under PR they will never take over our country because a majority is firmly pposed to everything they stand for and wants to keep the NHS

THE FOUR STAGES OF PRO-FOSSIL EXPLOITATION OF MAJOR BLACKOUTS [a thread with videos] Stage 1: Guilt By Proximity - "any blackout that happens in a region with renewable energy must have been caused by renewable energy" [we are in the later end of this stage -see, FT, Bloomberg (Blas), etc]

Labour needs several million buckets of ice-cold water poured over their head and the nation's church bells ringing in unison as a very loud wake-up call. Hopefully, this is it. People voted for hope and change and vision not Reform lite and the same old Tory shite.

"The single biggest cause of school absence is, and always has been, illness… … DfE and the Department of Health and Social Care need to ask what can be done to reduce the amount of illness experienced by children..." A new report on school absence.🧵

Note that an inverse correlation would mean that the more fluoride, the less low IQ. A direct correlation is the opposite: more fluoride, more low IQ. There is a direct (not inverse!) correlation between using the phrase 'direct inverse correlation' and not knowing what you're talking about.
