Redesigned countdown clocks include a much improved alert screen function. It’s readable(!) and the key info is visible and present instead of scrolling across the bottom in a size 12 font.

On the other hand they lose that mystique of feeling like you are an oracle trying to discern future through decoding fragmented messages from the gods
With the screen redesign they also finally (!!) fixed the bizarre A/C countdown clock placement on top of the uptown 4/5 platform doors at Fulton Street. Now those are uptown 4/5 countdown clocks and it's so much more convenient for those trains.
