the sinking feeling when you see a new person behind the chipotle counter and realize they’re going to give you carefully measured scoops instead of just piling it on

At the counter at Chipotle when the lady in front of me asked for the manager. Manager asked what the problem was. Lady pointed at the worker building her burrito bowl and said "I don't want her to make my food. She just glops it on there." I was stunned. The gloppage is the point at Chipotle!
There is a huge delta between the “do exactly what the employee manual told you” and the “I won’t even start adding other stuff until this baby is filled to the edge with brown rice”
- but sadly there is very little middle ground between those two extremes, so if you lose, you lose badly.
Don't get me started on the portions they put in online orders using their own app from that counter off to the side. My coworker got a bowl that wasn't even filled up to the lip, and she doesn't pick a small amount of ingredients. 20 bucks.
I fondly recall a burrito guy who wore a Rusty Shackleford name tag and who would always give me a side of cheese for free, sliding it across the counter and whispering 'damn the man'.
I'm a little dismayed by the frequent turnover of baristas at my local internet cafe for just this reason - sure, it doesn't take me more than a few visits to Become Known, and generally liked, but the fun conversations and freebies take some building up towards

they should just scoop however it comes off the spoon, and keep it moving
Charge for what its worth if its that serious.
it makes it so much worse
Of course, I eat there at least once a week.
