I used to have complex, unique ones for each website. Nowadays, I have a main, secure, one and then I just had an underscore and something related to the website I'm using it for. This method hasn't failed me yet

That’s the classic mistake though! If one password is breached, it will be tried on every popular website automatically, including every imaginable permutation of it. Automatically - the tools are sophisticated.

Another detail about that is that anybody who knows you all took that class now has like 20 people they can easily target because they know that you use the specific pattern of adding an underscore etc.

I know it might seem wild to think you’d be targeted that way, but that is often how it works

Password vault dude, it makes EVERYTHING easier. You don't have to remember any passwords and you can make them much stronger to increase your security. I highly recommend the small investment. I use NordPass but I'm honestly not sure if it's the best one.

I was the same, with the short, silly password until I had a problem with an account, so I made a really long, kinda strong pass and nowadays I use a variation of it depending of the site, but I still miss my easy, silly one...

This is why I use a password generator and encryption cuz left on my own I’m gonna make a password long and complicated but use it on everything. Which might as well make it password for all the good it does.

These days, you have apps that give you the option/suggestion of randomly generating a password for you, saving it and then linking it to your phone, email, face recognition/thumbprint programs. It's kind of nice...

As an IT worker, I find all of the stupid about passwords in shows and movies absolutely believable. People would definitely use dumbass things as credentials for things that could ruin their lives if breached. What I find MUCH harder to credit is that the systems in question allowed them to.

There are so many things that need passwords it really hard to keep track of them all. What I do is use a code system in my password that only I know. Deviation with extras numbers and combination of special character which meet the passwords required on websites and apps and help me to remember it.
