UK needs to start from the point of realising it's a tiny Island with nothing exceptional, and nothing unique to offer anyone. Only them can any honest conversation begin about anything.

Sadly evident when one sees how British exceptionalism is rife even among passionate rejoiners. So many versions of "the EU has the sense to know they're far better off with the UK as a member", and such outrage if this assertion is so much as questioned.

The sense of entitlement/exceptionalism is just as frequently seen among remainers.

The EU has very few potential partners within the UK.

Agreed. I actually think the UK would be a far better and happier place if the people could lose the exceptionalist, post empire bollox and accept reality, that they are no better than all the other nations in Europe.
