This is not fun or easy for anyone. I am stupid grateful to be in a position where I can risk something that means so much to me in order to take a stance alongside people who need it even more than I do.

I just want us all to not feel taken advantage of, or at risk of that happening in the future.

Anyone who understands how much VAs love the characters we play can appreciate how important this moment is if we're willing to risk and sometimes lose those characters over it. Because without broadly-accepted standards, the race to the bottom will eventually take those characters from us anyway.

From what I understand, China already has a law in place for protections against AI use without permission (it came into effect last year I think?)

The AI voiceover was done with permission from the VA before this law was put in place (he was in deep crap with legal problems)

so the main issue with that law (found here https://mp.weixin.qq.com/s/_GxGaG6Q2NYHJWQuOtMyrQ), is that it specifies "the voice of any natural person should be protected by law" - 'natural person' is a very specific term that the Chinese civil code uses to refer to citizens, meaning it doesn't apply to int'l actors

Maybe its for the good that I never decided to play a Hoyo title. Theres a lot of characters they made they I like though. Which is why even as a non-Hoyogamer, I wish all the VAs the best in their battle against the machine.

I'm just trying to listen to those involved over rumors. I agree with what everyone is fighting for. And I understand that it's on Hoyo to sign the agreement, who hasn't.
