Opening by December 31 was always going to be a heavy lift for Sound Transit, given the fact that there was essentially no buffer with that schedule.

There’s also overhead to operator training, qualification, and pre-revenue service on each individual segment.

I’m not saying it couldn’t possibly be done; it just wasn’t necessarily worth it for ST.

Makes sense. It would have been nice as someone who lives next to it. The current alternatives aren’t bad, but definitely slower by a good amount.

I wonder what repercussions there will be for the contractor once the dust settles on the I-90 plinths. It doesn't feel right to feel so negative, but it also doesn't feel right to be robbed of three years of cross-lake service because they let a problem they knew about in 2019 sit until 2022.
