I’m very tall.
Like, 6ft3 tall.
But on the Tube today, there’s a man who must be at least 6ft5 - and he’s towering over me.
I feel genuinely intimidated.
I don’t like it.
Is this what short people feel like all the time?
If so… I’m so sorry for looming over you.

My nephew in law is 6'5", (his brother 6'7") My doggo barks every time he stands up. 😁
I’m 5’7”
Never knowingly overtowered.
Yet.
Still applied in my 40's.
No twenty something male member of my extended family is under 6ft2 with tallest being 6ft6.
Feels very odd.
Now I’m old I’m 5ft and a tiny bit.
My local Co-op, my corner shop, refitted and added height to their shelves. I now have to take something off a low shelf to knock the thing I want off the high shelf.
(PS some folks don't mind being towered over one bit.)
But being a Hobbit has advantages and if giant-folk are mean, their soft spot are more easy to target.
Seems, over the last 10/15 years. That either I have gotten smaller. Or generally, people are taller.
I remember donkeys' years ago being in a crowded tram in Kyoto, and standing next to a young Japanese man, gazing up at his armpit.
I've a pal who is 6'5 and I actually love standing next to him.
Us humans are complicated.
When my hair is short, men follow me into the restroom on automatic & suddenly freak when they see tampon dispensers.
Short shitty men often want the experience of being with a tall woman like they are climbing Mt Everest to plant their flags.
I despise short shitty men.
What does intimidate you is being picked on, bullied, overlooked, treated like a lesser person, insulted, made the subject of jokes and then told you have "short man syndrome" whenever you stand up for your rights.
We're nimble & can zip & maneuver through crowds like an Aston Martin, we can see if someone's dropped money on the ground, we fit everywhere.
We LIKE being compact.
The only odd time is when we encounter someone even shorter. Is THAT what you feel like all the time? So sorry!
His son 6'8''
G'son (14) 6'3''
G'daughter (18) 5'11''
That son, while a student in Edinburgh, was often stopped for pic's especially by Japanese tourists!
