I used Xanax with my dog because she was constantly worried about being attacked and protecting. Made an insane difference and she could be happy outside on a walk

Thrilled to see Sophie making such progress. My own dog also has fluoxetine (2 tablets for her - extra crunchy!) when a firework triggered massive anxiety. It’s worked so well for mine, delighted it’s also playing its part in helping Sophie x

Dilys has been on Prozac for a few years. It’s been a huge help in dealing with her anxiety. We’re very slowly weaning her off to see how she adjusts now we’ve done a lot of behavioural work with her

We've had Copurrnicus (and, at times, Grabbity) on both prozac and gabapentin in the past, largely to try to combat some referred aggression Copurrnicus had towards Grabbity, and gabapentin for travel. Works pretty well, really.

I have Gabapentin for this old man, just for visits to the vet. He gets one capsule sprinkled on food once a month, and that allows me to get him in his carrier. Otherwise, it's impossible. He was feral for years, and although he is a very happy house kitty now, the carrier and vet stress him out.

Bless his drugged-up little heart. We had to dose Copurrnicus for the fireworks, which was hard because it's never clear when the neighbours are going to just start randomly letting them off. He never used to care, but he was outside one day last year when one went off and has been jumpy since.

Sophie from New Zealand is also on dog prozac. She's still nuts but it's taken the edge off her anxiety.

We had a cat who was so anxious that he began obsessively licking a spot on himself until the fur came off. We had to put him on anti anxiety meds (it was a paste we put in his ear) and his demeanor totally changed afterwards. He was so much happier

We are two years in with our rescue dog and she is still incredibly anxious. We have two Macedonian rescues, one is happy go lucky , the other is a bundle of nerves and stress. I would love to try Prozac with her, but not sure our vet would support this.

So pleased it worked for Sophie. I don't know why we get so hung up about medication for mental health whether it be for us or our pets when we accept its necessity for physical health. I know you didn't take the decision lightly but you certainly did the right thing for her health and happiness.
