Obama was given significant latitude in foreign affairs under executive authority. The drone campaign in the Mideast was especially egregious. Do we all remember the killing of an American citizen tied to ISIS without trial or judicial hearing under Obama's leadership? Both sides are at fault here.

I think you're ignoring the context here. Obama didn't say that in a vacuum. Recall he asked Congress to authorize military force in Syria. Congress refused to act and Obama was lambasted by GOPs and the media alike for doing nothing despite the fact that it was Congress who refused to act.
