So Van Hollen isn’t even in Dem leadership in the Senate. So the story is, the President of the United States can’t get El Salvador to do something, but a mere member of the minority opposition party can get exactly what he wants from them? Wow.

Nah the White House has clarified that they will not bring the man back, posting an image to the Whitehouse account claiming that he's a terrorist and a member of MS-13.
It’s clear that it’s not that Trump “can’t” get El Salvador to release people, it’s that he doesn’t want them to. He’s literally paying them. With our tax dollars to keep them there.
Because bullies are given their power by people who just let them do what they want and cower in fear. It is like everything 🤡 does is just testing the waters to see what else he can get away with. Throat punch to 47 in 3...2...1 POW! Not today Satan!
No, the lesson is that the GOP are 3rd grade dumbasses. While holding the cookies and a piece of the broken cookie jar they will swear they didn't steal the cookies. And magas are so stupid they believe them.
Trump who calls himself the world's best negotiator who's just showed the world how weak and pathetic he really is that he can't even go up against a country like El Salvador.
I get that. I suppose my question is a rhetorical way of asking, why is Democratic Leadership a clutch of octogenarians that want to sit back and let the Republicans 'embarass themselves' until the public want to vote blue, rather than the people actually out doing things?
I concur. My point was just that Bukele didn’t have the pressure to give in to Van Hollen in the same way he would to someone in Leadership and yet he still did. So what does that say about Trump?
Salvadoran leadership has explicitly said that they're holding him because Trump is paying them to do so and has not asked them to return him. Trump has stated he will not ask. All other trumpworld bluster is just noise. SC implied strongly that Trump must ask. Next step is for them to assert that
It would help draw the lines for Congress and the world to see. I think that's where we are: demonstrating how rogue they've gone off the proverbial farm.
50 million people in the streets this weekend as a warm-up for 125 million in the streets on July 4. We need to pressure our elected leaders to stand up and impeach this regime.
The El Salvadorian president has returned 9 prisoners to the US in the past; the US pays him 6 billion dollars for 230 or so prisoners there besides Mr Garcia. So both he and Trump are lying. What’s the aim? Some say to distract attention away from the tariffs. But that doesn’t make sense to me.
Trump definitely wants illegal concentration camps for everyone he views as an enemy.
If he gets the public and the courts to accept that "illegal aliens" have no rights, it will be an immense victory and further place him above and beyond the law.
And then, he would target US citizens next.
We know now that Trump intends to send American citizens to El Salvador. It may be that not releasing Mr Garcia is a way to frighten immigrants into leaving the country or keep them from entering, with no consideration given to asylum seekers.
Makes one wonder, doesn't it. A critical care physician I worked with during Covid remarked later (on behalf of a lot of us in 2020...) "I wasn't at all sure I was going to survive this."
Contact the International Surfing Association (ISA) and urge them to STOP using El Salvador for surfing events and championships. Big event coming up in September! https://www.isasurf.org
Fox News is on say the Dem Senator is sitting down with a gang member. A lie. Garcia was under a Judges protective order because he and his family were threatened in El Salvador by another gang. As far as wife beater, wasn't Hegseth accused of the same. All Fox does is lie, like Trump.
Well here is the thing. The wrongly deported guy can sue FixedNoise ClusterFaux. Because what evidence did they have that he was a gang member? It’s been repeatedly shown that the government has no proof. The cop who wrote that on the form is a criminal.
It seemed pretty apparent from what the El Salvadoran president said in the WH that he hadn’t been asked or told to send him back. Trump is standing his ground to defy the courts. It is another test of how far he can go. If he wins, heaven help us all.
Yes, but what I meant was the folks on one side seem all lined up. They seem like a powerful force. Their policies seem well-thought out, steps ahead. And yet, when someone pushes back, plop. We see them start to fall over. So I don't think it's chess (and I don't think it's checkers).
Shows how easy it would be to stop him 🤔 @schumer.senate.gov @raskin.house.gov get your weak ass ReThugLicans across the aisle to get their heads out of their asses. Nobody is freaking out enough. Move it.
What am I missing? Who stopped him? What Republicans were involved? What power does this show that Raskin(?) and Schumer have to sway Republicans? No snark here, I just have no clue what your point is.
I am demanding that Representatives work their back room deals to convince the Republicans to form a coalition and take back their power. It doesn't take very many, and they're all complaining about him behind closed doors. So Dems need to remind them they have the power and whip support to impeach.
You literally said it shows how easy it is to stop him. What was stopped? What Republican had anything to do with it? Sure, it would be fantastic for those things to happen, but he has been impeached twice. What changed? I am baffled by those still waiting for a savior or a magic wand.
He demonstrated that he cares about his constituents. When you care about the well-being of the people you represent, you move heaven and earth for them. Actions speak louder than words. If Dems care so much, they need to demonstrate this to the American people. Words aren't enough.

They were always acting in naked bad faith.
We are the Calvary.

It’s time to take the trash out to the curb. Remove the current administration.
And which shows just how fucking hard our pressure hits. We won't stop now.
But he can’t tell Bukele what to do?

Now that's leadership.

Isn't the guy still in an El Salvador prison?
Thanks
tables and make a mess.
The dictator of a third world country said so.
He dictates the terms and POtuS accepted.
POtuS bowed down before him.
He deserves our mock and ridicule.
POtuS is weak.
#FuckTrump
We donated to him today. Not from MD and haven't even donated to my own senator.
There are so few doing what needs to be done that it's pretty easy to notice and reward them.
So long as we have Courts that will stand up to the “dick-tator”, Garcia should have his day in Court.
To save face, Trump would need to successfully bring the wrongfully trafficked man back to the US, and fire Noem for embarrassing him so greatly.
