Stylized perspective - foreshortening shots. 2D you can more or less draw it how you please, but in some games like Arcsys fighting games they have to break and twist the model to best suit the shot they wanted to achieve to make it as exaggerated as the anime style they’re inspired by.

As I see it, the crux and curse of 2D animation is you're starting fresh each frame. But that makes it easier to do big transformations of your character. This explode animation draws every other frame all squiggly and then also inflates the character. Probably tough in 3D (of which I know nothing).
