The more this place reminds me of why I liked social media so much the more I realise that I stopped doing so a long time ago. It’s extraordinary what happened. The volume & violence of posts from accounts you had never shown the slightest interest in just exploded. It *must* have been deliberate.

( Xitter etiquette requires me to say the above is a joke…)
They should appreciate it, as the same technique was used for Public Information in Germany in 1945.
The wise came here
More withdrew entirely to holes like TikTok and Joe Rogan
It’s just such a bizarre place now. This is a breath of fresh air.
But if everyone migrates so will the loonies.
Our towns local subreddit had the same problem. We took over moderation several years ago. We have a zero tolerance policy for any sort of racist, sexist or bigoted shit. It’s doubled in size and it’s a much happier place.
Leave the dark side and step into to light! 🙂
I’m sure it is deliberate,
We need this site to be the opposition.
we all like a bit of banter but mainstream social media is toxic .. $old out to reality
I really don't miss the death threats...
Looking back, I didn't really notice the ads at the time. I just scrolled past them. Being here made me realise how invasive they were.
For the last 12 months, my followers over there probably saw me using terms like "Cheeto-faced shitgibbon" and "Hoofwanking bunglecunt" and precious little else. I was part of the problem.
years, at least!
So block them. All of them.
Don't let them in.
I have a list.

I was brought up that if you see injustice and don't call it out, you become part of the problem. Over time I saw more & more injustice nomalised there, so 90% of my posts became me deliberately arguinging with bigots, which nobody wants to read
Now we can enjoy something akin to what 'the old bird' once was, in here. 😊
I vacillated for months.
But since Trump and Musk have been in power it’s been the rocket fuel for Twitter to spontaneously combust.
No going back.
So happy to not have to wade through 15 of them just to read the replies to a post.
Pig T Shirt
We will never learn.
I totally agree with you, I don’t feel uptight
Those sort of things happened under old twitter, and will again happen here.
But never under Elon's "X" version of twitter.
As soon as you start curating someone's experience, you can't the shirk responsibility for the content.

*The real power lies with those we are too scared to criticise ....
On occasions when DUP or TUV rise in the Sovereign Parliament I get the popcorn 🍿 ready.
🇮🇪🇪🇺
Unfortunately, because Elon is a "data guy" he saw that as a success and kept on adding kindling.
It became like being at a football match trying to talk to your mate with 55000 shouting obscenities
to getting on Bluesky. I didn't feel that way on the cesspool anymore. I decided to deactivate my Twitter account yesterday after discovering a lot of my #BlueCrew friends ended up here. It's relaxing, fun, and what social media should be.
"elon musk" is not a Gentleman.
Or a Gentle Lady.
🇮🇪🇪🇺
In one respect, Elon Musk is just a manchild who likes playing with rockets, cars and computers.
On the other hand, he is prepared to lose money by funding hate, division and suffering.
It won’t of course, and the former Twitter will remain toxic & become an echo chamber for those who want to remain.
At the very least we are now free of the aggressive Musk algorithm & bot farm attacks. Bliss.
Yes
Lovely
Awesome
Sounds good
Welcome
Happy days
Really
Interesting
Seen that before
Let's go
Left the other place, I had missed the interaction of old, but not what it became.
Came here this week and discovered the joy of ex X!
X is Siberia with added hopelessness.
It’ll come - and we’ll all need to be ready.
Creating a bubble doesn't mean the outside world doesn't exist.

We will have fun
X needs too closed down, the more people come here, the more Money Musk loses from X advertisers. But GOP/MAGA/X advertisers need to be punished too.
Never missed that place, but heard its continued demise from those that stayed.
So pleased that many of my Twitter-friends are back here now.
And people like James O’Brien whom I missed when I left Twitter…
I think Mastodon is set to be the laserdisc of social networks
