I think I had one here in London a while back, and my assessment was similar. It should be good (I like all these components, and I love a sunday roast), but it doesn't really work. The texture of the Yorkshire pudding gets weird, iirc.

in 2025 I feel that it is safe for me to rank the cuisines of the colonizers, and I put it in bottom tercile but not bottom (that's Dutch, the only cuisine I know that deep fries gravy balls)

If they replaced the braised beef with a proper Sunday beef roast and kept everything else exactly the same I would declare this to be the most appetizing preparation of English food I've ever seen. The ranking goes Yorkshire burrito > pie and mash > jellied eels > Wigan kebab > everything else

That's a good point, I missed that it was "braised beef." This is a bit unusual -- it would usually be either roast beef or roast pork belly.

You're missing a few other good ones:

- fish and chips
- potted tongue
- sausage

I refuse to recognize English sovereignty over fish and chips! Sausages and tongue I will acknowledge. Revised ranking:

Yorkshire burrito > pie and mash > potted tongue > sausages > jellied eels > Wigan kebab > all other pale-colored and/or canned English food
