A reminder: there is no singular "algorithm" here. Just saw two separate posts of people falsely claiming "the algorithm" is suppressing certain types of content here. But things are different here. You get to choose your own damn algorithm. Or make your own.

I see content that I wish to see, not what the owners or AI chose for me.
It's still a bubble, but at least it's a bubble of my own creation.
This is a feature, not a bug.
But I think a lot of people who came here relatively recently from more “controlled” platforms are barely aware of all the options and stay on “Discover”
Making your own lists, on the other hand, is indeed easy-peasy.
Really need to get that inner ear infection looked at.
Before there were lists, everyone was just making feeds (now I think there may be more people making lists than feeds, but feeds are still neat)
You can go to your settings and turn off any of the default filters on the 'following' feed, as well as changing threading behavior.
There are also feeds for “only posts,” “quiet posters,” and some other variations, if you feel like you’re missing people, or you feel overwhelmed by reposts, or so on
Plus you can always roll your own feed! Make it YOUR algorithm! :)
If it's not doing that for you, something is wrong.
Ahh, yes, if I existed in an area devastated by some terrible tragedy with no electricity, running water, or food, I would simply hop down to the functional ATM to pull out some dollars to buy the readily available goods I needed
