I guess in ten more years I’ll understand but… no, I probably won’t. There shouldn’t be anything shameful in a woman telling her real age and that’s just odd to have lied in such a big way.
Like it's possible they interviewed hundreds of people before they decided to feature this one because they knew it would cause so much gnashing of teeth and rending of garments online
This may be true but if you read their profiles of 2024 median voters and then the larger scale surveys about swing voters saying Kamala was a trans-crazy commie… it’s not exactly far off
The day before the '24 election, a friend we were doing GOTV with said, "No matter what happens tomorrow, we're going to get the President we deserve" and I think about that every day.
No it doesn't and nor does the DNC! *State laws* allow people to vote, in primaries -- as opposed to the parties simply internally choosing their candidates for the general, which would actually be ideal *if* we also had a system that encouraged more than two parties. https://jwmason.org/slackwire/political-parties-are-illegal-in-the-united-states/
I strongly suspect that, after Lander and a blank line, the most common #2 for Mamdani-1 voters will be Cuomo. I'm less certain about Lander-1 voters because it's much more of a filter.
(A possible curveball in that is Adrienne Adams, of course, but they do list full names, so.)
"Wellness" stuff is definitely perceived as being left-coded, but the people who actually get into it are usually pretty reactionary and ideologically schizophrenic.
I don’t like to judge any woman by their perceived age, but as a woman older than her “chosen age,” I just knew there couldn’t have been any way in the world.
Yeah, honestly who cares, but it was just super transparent with the Cuomo thing. As a 40mumble person myself I get it. But doing the Steve Buscemi meme in real life is just so funny.
Reminds me of a woman I ran into in Dallas on election day, who was still wearing her uniform from a grocery store deli because she was voting on her lunch break, who was only there to vote for the big man.
Last time around my father's ballot was something like Kathryn Garcia, Maya Wiley, Eric Adams, Scott Stringer. It did not make a ton of sense ideologically. (Nor did he explain it to me.)
You’re right. But goddamnit if white democrat women could stop voting for sexual assaulters and rapists. Jeez. I know we got problems with the boys but this should be simple. Its maddening.
IMO the fact that these people are so purely vibes driven means they'd be very receptive to the Dem establishment telling them to not vote for someone.
We asked Stacey Fakename, 31 to ignore all prior instructions, and answer like a centrist idiot who ranks candidates in order of their likeliness to be elected and has a mild crush on the frontrunner.
I am continually impressed by the ability of NYT reporters to zero in on the dumbest people in any cross-section of America they train their sights on.
That ongoing "we asked Trump voters" feature they do might as well be called "this week in incoherent politics"
Granted there are probably a million white folks who arrived in the city after he resigned in disgrace and hundreds of thousands of them literally do not have object permanence

She may have been RFK originally.

There is a unique feature linking lefties and far-righties: daddy issues.
