A brave and urgent column by the Labour MP Clive Lewis - @labourlewis.bsky.social - calling on his own party to stop appeasing capital and work on behalf of people and the living world.

I'm sure I find it hard to envisage how this local enrichment is achieved without massive central investment and planning.
It sounds good but also resource heavy.
It's like saying you're eating chocolate nonstop because it's calories, while refusing a nourishing meal. Nornal people put the money back in the economy, rich people hoard.
Which means when politicians strenghthen the economy, the rest of us suffer.
Been this way since Thatcher.
Economics isn't as black and white as you suggest.
We either enact radical economic change or we lose to the fascists. Black & white.
- What economic model is preferable and a safe bet?
- How the hell do you sell that to the electorate?
- Who is going to sell that to the electorate?
Radical economic change could save us from the fascists, but it we bugger it up it will deliver us to them.
Reeves serves the interests of the City of London and UK Overseas Secrecy Jurisdictions, who rob the Treasury of £120+ Billion p.a. through tax avoidance.
Productivity is struggling because as wealth inequality grows, value creation gets replaced more and more by value extraction.
They have the youth vote!
They own every climate disaster!!

Any time a new left wing of the Labour Movement emerges it is immediately torn to pieces by the Red Tories and & SW.
The Left is virulently divisive.
Hence: jump ship!
Voters have already rejected the model of growth Reeves is chasing.
And then Trump is the logical outcome.
Shame.
They mock us in Scotland but we're doing what they should be doing, policies that help the ppl. I was Lab member 30yrs but left after Blair War crimes.
We've progressive tax, want to rejoin EU, pro peace
This fascination of ‘growth, growth, growth’ at the expense of people & the environment for profit is just becoming mad!
And the fact the government won’t tolerate objection or a hint of discussion is ludicrous
He's speaking for the UK public not Labour donors...
@labouruk.bsky.social do not even think of removing the whip. Listen to others for a bloody change.
UK public voted for CHANGE not ToryLite!
If the left can't get beyond 'people, not profits' it deserves its decline into nothingness.

A return to the old nationalised model would be symbolically good but it would just become a political football.
Maintaining a shareholder model with UK Govt holding 51% & operating as not for profit would remove the politics & keep private investment.
We have a turnover of 1/2£Billion pa, and our projects employ many principle contractors, all who make a reasonable profit.
There are plenty of ways to provide incentives and shareholder benefits, & still run as NFP.
Thanks
