Dear Tenured Facility,
Over the past 100 days my career trajectory has turned into a question mark. At best, the TT job market just got even crazier, at worst there won’t be research career options in the US when I finish my PhD. It took me a while to find my path and I love being a scientist. 1/x

If research is gone and we're all teaching, we'll need 2.5x fewer faculty, schools will declare financial exigency, and tenured profs will start getting laid off once the teaching faculty and pre-tenure folks are gone.

Expect lower pay as that is the main driver of brain drain, so look at it as a sacrifice for freedom.
There are some tenured professors who are engaged and taking action, but the shear number of you sitting around while our institutions burn to the ground because you don’t want to put a target on your back or rock the boat? 2/x

Now is the time to speak up!
None of this “science isn’t political” trash.
IT IS and you’re living in it.
If you don’t want to be the last generation of American scientists, GET UP AND DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT.

Idc what organization it is, or if it’s any, but if you have benefited from our institutions and you do nothing: you are guilty.

We can’t win this thing without you. I’m one of thousands of PhD students who have had their dreams upended. Join with us. Let’s fight together ✊🏼🖤
I was more naive then.
