My "baby" will be 50 soon. My visitors would always show up when he was napping and I was trying to grab a nap too...or a shower..or a bite of lunch. No one EVER bothered calling first. It wasn't all bad though. I went from 130 pounds to 85 pounds in a short time. Yeah, I looked awful.

That had to be a very difficult time. I can’t imagine being in a hospital back then. Did you have to deal with diaper shortages and/or formula shortages? Did you get to see a lactation nurse? There were probably a lot of things that got skipped because of the virus.😕

Entering motherhood in feb 2020 and never having a single friend, baby class, restaurant, etc to go to and my husband had to leave to do a movie out of the country when said baby was 5 months old and he was gone for 4 months…still get the effing chills just remembering this…

Yeah it was SO great that my parents and in-laws weren't able to meet their grandchild until he was a toddler! It definitely doesn't make me tear up seeing them holding their other grandchildren as babies and wondering what that would've been like.

I hear you. Our granddaughter was born in June 2020. Only her parents were allowed to be there. We brought her 2 year old brother to the hospital, scrambled through the bushes and stood on the air conditioner vent outside their window, and held him up to see his new sister.

Yep. My son was born March 14, 2020. No visitors also means no one to come help you out those first few months. We didn’t even feel comfortable with grandparents coming at first.

My son had to get an emergency appendectomy in April 2020. Even though the hospital was basically empty, it was still terrifying. He was 17. I can’t imagine how scary having a brand new baby in a hospital at that time must have been. And everything else on top of that. Have the best 5th birthday 🎉

One of my good friends that I grew up with had her 1st child during covid and died 6 days later due to covid that she caught in the hospital. Now there is a kindergartener that never knew her mother and anyone who tells you "you must have had it so good" can fuck right off!💙

I'm not sorry for the visits and help we received after. Having someone willing to help care for a screaming potato for a few hours is so necessary.
Even with me and wife together the first couple weeks, the newborn phase was brutal.

The mom oneupmanship thing always left me cold. My babies are all teenagers now so I haven’t had to deal with that stuff for a while. I will say that when you look back at those early days with your babies it is easy to remember all the smiles and giggles and love and forget the wide awake 3AMs.

That was a scary time to go to the hospital. I had back surgery in June 2020. Very little was known about covid then. I imagine your baby was a ray of sunshine during those dark days, and certainly for all those loving visitors as well.

I had a tooth infection that turned into bacterial pneumonia late spring/early summer of 2020. I spent half that time in a coma, but when I was awake, I sort of remember hearing people crying and screaming in different rooms. My family couldn’t visit me at all. It was so, so bad.

I had mine in the 90s and early 2000s and I didn't want people around them because I was terrified someone would bring in something that would hurt them. Fully agree, our daughter was born dec 2019 and had to be in the hospital for three weeks in Feb before the actual shutdown, we were in the icu listening to people dying and nurses wondering out loud what was wrong with all the people, and we had no choice but to wonder if we were next
